@captfuzz.bsky.social told me about this as a joke. He was shocked when I told him, β€œActually, I’ve been wanting to see that.”

And now we have tickets!

To my friends from LiveJournal

I still think about you Wonder if you finally quit, Do you still speak to your mom?

I remember when you went to Japan How you swore you'd never forgive him.

I can't remember to take my meds but I remember you wanted to live on a houseboat. It's a strange intimacy, all of us unspooling across decades of internet space Like balls of yarn leaving a trail behind us of everywhere and everyone we've ever been

I hope you got your houseboat.

I hope you got everything.

I’m 150 cm, with the added fun of scoliosis, and the fertility doctor I saw told me pregnancy, especially a multiple pregnancy made likely by fertility treatments, would probably kill me. (We adopted.)

I watched a couple of episodes of Physical 100, and the slow paced editing killed me. But I’ll watch a ton of slow edited sequences if the competitors are all dressed like this! πŸ‘πŸ’―

I worry that there’s not going to be any public land or assets left when we finally manage to vote Ford out. (Why the heck do people keep voting for him when his grift is so damn obvious?🀨)

Atkinson Hyperlegible Font - Braille Institute Read easier with Atkinson Hyperlegible Font, crafted for low-vision readers. Download for free and enjoy clear letters and numbers on your computer!

periodic reminder of the existence of Atkinson Hyperlegible, a free font available from the Braille Institute designed to improve readability for people with low vision

I use it in talks because it's pretty and also because, as an audience member, I am perpetually squinting at people's slides

The good: I start my new W4 tomorrow.

The bad: My new gig pays *monthly* at the end of each month and I'm starting at the beginning of the period, so I wont get paid until New Years.

There's 12% or $8407 left to close out this ENTIRE campaign. I REALLY need a hand to hold onto the gig.

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Anytime the β€œbut think of the children” argument is invoked, you know it’s in aid of some kind of bigoted terrible policy. (Demonizing the unhoused, LGBTG+, people with addictions, etc.) And our councillor (the awful Bradford) seems more determined than most to lean into our worst impulses.

As always when the topic of β€œclearing encampments” comes up, I ask just where the heck are these people supposed to go! The shelters are full, and there is no affordable housing for people on welfare or disability or working minimum wage jobs.

My dad worked on Superior for the coast Guard. In fact he was on the lake the night the Fitzgerald sank. My mom HATED that song.

Found the pic of the Edmund Fitzgerald my dad took at some point on Superior. He took a LOT of pictures of ships while working the Great Lakes. I stumbled on this one while digitizing boxes of family slides.

I see James Watson has died.

What did Watson discover?

Rosalind Franklin's lab notes.

Only we spell it 'S-T-E-A-L' these days.

Rosalind Franklin died at 37 of ovarian cancer attributed to radiation exposure from the methods she & her assistant used to photograph a cross-section of the DNA double helix.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!
