The tyrants in charge want to rob me of the sanity I have left but I can fight back by keeping things simple. Developed a roll of film, baked a load of whole-wheat bread, cultured some milk for yogurt and made a pizza out of very happy, puffy homemade dough.

I really like this city but I'm feeling almost completely overwhelmed by the actions of the ignorant, petty tyrants who don't even live here doing their very best to destroy it and how there's very little I can do about it.

Last night I took the bus up to the north end of Halifax to meet a former colleague for a rather excellent meal. Then walked the 21 minutes home south through the north end, around Citadel Hill and through downtown to my building.

There were decades to study the mistakes of other cities, to make plans to do better, to meet the problems of a growing city with solutions that could be implemented and invested in. Instead we get the lazy shoulder-shrugging and "who could have seen this coming?". It's all so sad in so many ways.

It feels like it was Halifax's plan all along to scrape by just long enough to become the Toronto they spent tens-of-millions of dollars making fun of and attempting to convince people to move away from because of the traffic, high cost-of-living, and air quality.

Yesss, that god-forsaken slip lane is finally getting ripped out. So many close calls on that corner.

Thanks to the continuing tradition of having gutless wonders on council, Halifax doesn't change as much as it rots forward.

Went and got a new passport photo taken and that was a mistake.

You know what though, it's fine. I don't need to travel ever again I had a good run - seen some things, climbed some mountains, drank some wine - but presenting that photo at passport control would be taken as an act of aggression.

The bucketheads in the city's transportation department want to achieve Vision Zero by "educating" the kind of sociopath that would drive around a cop car at the scene of a collision then wonder why nothing changes and people are still dying.

Holy shit, this might be the most perfect distillation of the complete and total entitlement and shittiness of Halifax drivers I've ever read: "Despite the on-ramp being blocked, eight vehicles drove onto the shoulder of the road to get around the police vehicle"

In all the many, many years I've been buying cameras and camera parts, this is definitely the smallest. It's an eyepiece diopter for my Mamiya 6 camera that helps with focussing and seeing the information in the viewfinder.

Completely agree, enforcement is almost criminally lacking. I've driven friends and co-workers mad with my plan if I become king of Halifax: pay parking enforcement $75 an hour, double that overnight, and parking tickets are $200 every 2 hours. Problem solved. That shit ain't free.

It's *bonkers*. They literally drag race down Hollis St at night to beat the lights. A tragedy waiting to happen and its been like this for years.

In *one* intersection: a driver illegally drives through a crosswalk with a pedestrian waiting to cross; 3 pickup trucks illegally parked blocking the view of very large oncoming traffic driving too fast to stop at same crosswalk.

And the clowns in charge want more of this.
