Thanks for the mention, Louise. We are picking up a growing number of critical analyses of GenAI such as Karen Hao 'Empire of AI' and there have only been 3 programmes today about GenAI on Radio 4

It would be good to have up-dated and comprehensive statistics on this and related issues. The AI companies keep telling us that they are getting more efficient, while multiplying their audience every day

Maybe best as a group task?

#LTHEchat A4 Couple of suggestions. Ask the AI to produce an image of a specific historical event and then add up the errors. The other obvious one is 'spot the stereotypes'.

This sort of statistic makes me question whether it is worth getting GenAI to generate images at all! Or are there situations where GenAI images are really valuable?

#LTHEchat A2 Have you tried images of clock faces without specifying the time? Have you tried an image of a person writing with a fountain pen? Which hand did they use?

A2 #LTHEchat When folk become 'stuck' on a single or limited approach or worldview, then you have to worry if too much ego is attached to that opinion

#LTHEchat A2 For students, I often found it was lack of confidence to try new approaches associated with time pressures that discourage experimentation. And staff/the curriculum/the timetable do not provide the space/time to try things out.

#LTHEchat A! My understand is that they are the sum total of strategies and techniques which enable effective study. But the term 'study skills' has always had a negative connotation of 'deficit'. Can we have a new positive name please?

#LTHEchat A6 We need to equip them with tools and techniques that enable them to make responsible use (not just ethical - which is often defined too narrowly) of GenAI

#LTHEchat A5 Because AI/GenAI is being pushed at us (and all our colleagues and students) so relentlessly then we need to make sure that all our students have a reasonable understanding of what it can and cannot do. And what it is likely to be able to to do next year when the agents come rushing in!
