Stupidity is a disease... Literally
10.11.2025 15:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Or you're kind of obsessed and need to take a two week sabbatical in the woods followed by resetting your algorithm π
02.04.2025 06:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The best argument against this, I think, is that the problematic ideas "imported" by other countries aren't really that much worse or different than our own. Our problematic ideas are mostly driven by our dominant culture of straight white guys.
02.04.2025 00:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I agree, but diversity of values isn't always how it plays out. The cultural mosaic assumes integration and spread, whereas fast/intense immigration results in more concentrated/insulated diasporas. This is especially evident in BC where SE Asians are often tough on crime and gender.
02.04.2025 00:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Where your ancestors from is a different question though, no? It's a bit of a touchy subject. I'm pro immigration but I think it is naive not to acknowledge that other cultures bring their own political values with them. It wouldn't change my vote but I get why someone else would consider it.
01.04.2025 21:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You see the content you're most likely to interact with... I never see people worshipping Liberals
01.04.2025 21:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's a difference between "stroking" a politician and merely voting based on what your best interests are. I don't understand why people assume that Liberal voters are obsessively dedicated to party when voting trends prove that they are not. Voting is not a zero sum team sport.
01.04.2025 15:52 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And not surprising considering that's where PP made most of his wealth
01.04.2025 15:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was shocked that he didn't. I get why he hesitated because of the enormous flak the LP got over Chandra Arya. But they are always going to be held to a higher standard than the Cons, who will run and remove any problematic figures they want without comment.
01.04.2025 15:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's horrifying how many people feel comfortable calling for the imprisonment, torture, or murder of their political opponents. For all the people who cry about not having "free speech" in Canada, they clearly have no fear saying any disgusting thing they want.
01.04.2025 15:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not voting is basically a vote for whoever wins. You will contribute to the outcome one way or another. Knowing that, what kind of contribution would you prefer to make? If you genuinely don't care who the federal leader is, which seems unlikely, you can protest vote.
01.04.2025 15:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's time to stand up for the CBC. Pierre Poilievre has plainly stated that he plans to shut down the CBC.
The CBC is a lifeline for Canadians who are being bombarded by US right-wing propaganda. We can't allow him to take it away.

14.02.2025 17:38 β π 863 π 309 π¬ 20 π 29From a foreigner's perspective, it seems quite deliberately designed to support them, beginning long before Trump was in office. I pray, though seriously doubt, that the rest of the world takes heed - protecting local and public media, and breaking up monopolies.
14.02.2025 16:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is before any campaigning has been done, which I find super interesting. It does speak to how unlikeable PP is for most people. If he had a personality people were attracted to, I don't think the shifts would be so dramatic. We'll see if it's any different for Carney.
11.02.2025 01:48 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was a show that ended too soon π
18.01.2025 21:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Finally read that WSJ article from last week and this confirms everything I suspected.
21.12.2024 18:22 β π 4517 π 922 π¬ 142 π 255I try to remember that this doesn't apply to the majority of people, but it's still disheartening to constantly be reminded of how many complete idiots we are surrounded by.
22.12.2024 03:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As people face the threat of Trumpβs tariffβs, Iβm standing with Premiers across the country in a Team Canada response. Whatever happens in Ottawa, British Columbians and people across the country can count on me for making them a priority. We wonβt stop fighting for people.

Criminals are dehumanized when they punch UP and humanized when they punch DOWN, race is only one intersection of privilege. Class is another and usually, more important.
The state is fine with violence and death, as long as it doesn't disturb the social order, which this does.
Don't forget the domestic abusers and rapists that are described as "football stars" and "model students" in articles, with smiling, flattering photos of themselves.
The establishment only denigrates "criminals" that punch UP, they don't give a shit about preying on the weak.
Raw milk is one of those ideas that can really only take hold when people haven't seen a cow. if you see a cow from let's say ten feet or less you immediately understand the problem that pasteurization is solving

09.12.2024 02:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Insisting that catastrophe is inevitable absolves the speaker of responsibility for trying to stop it. I imagine that's why a lot of people do it.
09.12.2024 02:54 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Two panel comic with crudely drawn stick people Panel 1: A person smeared in shit is talking to another person. This was before the whole "grayscale" thing was even established? Unfortunate bystander: "What the fuck, you're literally smeared in shit" Shit: "Appeal to emotion." Bystander: "oh my god the smell got in my mouth I'm about to vomit" Shit: "Not an argument." Panel 2: Zoom as the shit stained person comes closer Shit: "Debate me, if you had a legitimate point here you would be able to back it up with real arguments." Bystander: "No no no do not come closer I am leaving" Shit: "You are running away because you are afraid of losing in the marketplace of ideas."
Trivia! Shit smear guy previously appeared in a comic that wasn't even part of Pills That Make You Green, from back in May when I'd only made the first post and hadn't decided to just keep going with the green thing.
