I thought he never had a chance for one simple reason: All the traffic & municipal cops in the city have AKs & heavier items. That's literally 80,000 people just in the city, not counting the M region, not counting all *other* agencies in the city.

The other thing I read is that his house was described as "palatial." And, like, I get it, that area has a lot of 'spensive houses, & some employees' spouses have money, but two Jags in that era was a way bigger deal than it was a few years ago.

I did see one in DC during undergrad 21 years ago (jfc), diplo plates of course. Pretty stealthy. (And I always carried a camera while driving around during my senior year just for this sort of thing).

There is a teal W202 sedan in town & it does winter driving, & it seems just fine. Amazed tbh.
I think some W202 years were clearly "bad" rust-wise.

Saw more W140s this week than W223s, and that's with a foot of snow on the ground and temps in the single digits.
Did see a W223 at Costco yesterday. So, Costco shoppers apparently still buy them (you do need S-class money to shop there these days).

The runner-up import idea to my 440 in 2022 was the MB W202 C-klasse longroof.
Many advantages, esp the prospect of dealer service (& anyone & everyone actually being willing to touch it in the first place).
