Exciting news! We’re very pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Workplace #Cancer #Research Grants. Every year, an estimated 10,000 workers in Canada are diagnosed with work-related cancers – so this research is vital to keeping all of Canada’s workers healthy:

The US government has cut off funding for PubChem. This is a critical resource for health and safety practitioners and researchers alike. Defunding this database puts workers and workplaces at risk of harm.

Florida's decision to end school vaccine mandates is a blaring 5 star alarm. School vaccinations date back a century. This will cause great harm everywhere as unvaccinated kids travel in the US & globally.

We'll see a frightening return of diseases that have long been eliminated

I work in industrial ceramics manufacturing. My plant also produces cast iron and glass.

Without well-managed air filtration and access to NIOSH approved respirators and dust masks, workers like me will be at increased risk of lung conditions like silicosis & mesothelioma, and other organ damage.

Worker safety agency NIOSH lays off most remaining staff Laid-off employees ranged from those working in firefighter health programs, to those approving new respirators.

The entirety of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health was wiped out last night in a form letter sent by RFK Jr.

NIOSH investigates workplace hazards and works to find solutions. Gone are programs focused on miner safety and firefighter health:

The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach.

Exclusive: NSF director to resign amid grant terminations, job cuts, and controversy “I have done all I can,” says Sethuraman Panchanathan, a Trump appointee who has led agency since 2020

The Director could’ve Exited with Voice in support of his agency & workforce 2 months ago, 1 month ago, maybe even 3 weeks ago. Would’ve been a global hero for science. But he didn’t. Now, it’s too late. A lesson for students: you won’t regret doing the right thing. www.science.org/content/arti...

Let me translate these numbers.

Trump supporters support Trump, and for most, nothing could get them to tell a pollster otherwise.

But some of them think the Congressional GOP isn't supporting him enough.

Meanwhile, Trump critics oppose Trump and think Dems are doing a poor job of opposing him.

Dear senators who think you can’t do anything,

Today, Senator Van Hollen - through diplomatic pressure - got a meeting with Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. So that thing you’re thinking about doing? DO IT.

Donald Trump is deporting legal US residents to a foreign gulag, and he has stated publicly that he is moving on to citizens next. This is a Constitutional crisis. Will a single Republican stand up for our Constitution?

This is a huge victory for the public against DOGE's rampage.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) has a bill to return tariff authority to Congress. If it were to pass, the purposeless tariffs would end. Speaker Johnson is blocking it. Call your member of Congress, R or D, & urge a discharge petition on the bill, which forces a vote.

Mr. Trump’s pressure on universities has led at least one professor to leave the country. Jason Stanley, a professor at Yale University, said in an interview with NPR that aired on Tuesday that he was leaving to take a position at the University of Toronto. Dr. Stanley, a philosophy professor, said that the Trump administration was following a classic fascist playbook in targeting intellectuals, and that concessions by elite universities set a dangerous precedent.

Dr. Stanley said in the interview that by cracking down on universities, ostensibly in the name of protecting Jews, the Trump administration was fomenting antisemitism among the public. “It’s going to create mass popular anger against Jewish people,” he said. “If universities want to fight antisemitism, they need to stand up and say, ‘No, we are not threats to American Jews. You are threatening American Jews.’”

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

Inspired by Cory Booker? Live in Wisconsin? Want to do something about *gestures at everything* but not registered to vote? You can register and vote today! There's still time. The polls are open until 8:00 pm, and if you're registered and in line by that time, stay in line and vote.

I'm not a programming guy but MSNBC and CNN should be airing this Cory Booker thing in the same way you take over programming if there's a no-hitter or a basketball player with 60 points in three quarters. It's a physical feat! Cut in for this kind of thing. Costs nothing, gooses ratings, good TV.

INSTEAD of going to a branch which may be hundreds or 1Ks+ of miles away from you, call your members of Congress. They have constituent services that will help you regain access. Please share!
