Tested out a new tent in the garden in preparation for @greenmanfest.bsky.social (and acclimatising my daughter to camping), pretty successful (except for fitting everything back in the bag obviously) but I’m knackered now. You don’t realise how noisy a city is at night when you live in a house!

God, the number of people who were willing to believe that the South Yorkshire police were too woke to prosecute sexual abuse cases, when in fact the police force was itself an instrument of patriarchal sexual violence. It’s like a case study in the worst excesses of the British press.

Oh, wonder why the police were reluctant to investigate this… I’m sure this will get just as much media attention as the theory they were afraid of looking racist.

Don’t get me wrong I’m delighted they won and I think given they won it’s churlish to criticise but these pieces were presumably written beforehand and then it’s fair enough really.

I meant about Wiegman’s tactics, Englands general play was really pretty poor for most of the tournament. They had grit and determination by the bucketload and she deserves credit for fostering that but in actual footballing terms they weren’t a great team and she made some odd decisions.

That’s probably true, maybe he should be in the team, but the point I was arguing with was that all nations (or maybe just wales?) should be represented no matter what.

Quite how a trillion dollar company can’t get stuff delivered within 26+ hours of the physical object being on the van, or even make their tracking interface make sense, is a mystery. But it’s one more reason on top of many others not to do business with them if you can help it.

And not just picky but actually publicly shame them for daring to interact with their entirely non-private posts. This is deeply unbecoming behaviour.

One of my favourite things about blueksy (and twitter before) is seeing people with a few thousand followers dunking on the people who reply to them (often with stuff that is totally reasonable).

I think people by and large do care no? Even more so given the relative weakness of the opposition this time around. But if you don’t that’s fine, maybe it’s just not for you.

Also let’s be honest, the idea might not last very long if better players were overlooked to get worse ones in the team and then they got thumped by Australia…

Part of the appeal for me is being able to appreciate differently the players from the other nations, and cheering for them as our own for a while, that might be a more uplifting way to look at it?
