Don't be fooled, Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk are playing you The message the hate engine transmits is simple: asylum seekers are not really people in need

Robinson, Musk and Badenoch are all part of an industry of grievance, a machine designed to spread hate which now operates across the British right – from respectable print outlets to wild-eyed online fascists

More than half of UK businesses changing DEI approach due to Trump’s criticism Leading UK organisations reacting to pushback against diversity initiatives in the US by reviewing or even scrapping policies More than half of UK businesses are changing the way they approach ethical policies and practices because of the Trump administration’s criticism of the β€œwoke” agenda, research suggests. Interviews with 250 general counsels and chief legal officers at leading UK organisations found that they are reacting to the pushback against diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the US by reviewing – and in some cases scrapping – policies. She’s right. She *deliberately* hacked into Harriet Harman’s website, whereas Rachel Reeves is accused of obtaining a license late by accident. I assume that’s what she means, given Badenoch is widely known for her thoughtfulness and her self-awareness.

Yes, because Badenoch’s was a criminal offence carrying a custodial sentence, whereas Reeves’ was not.

This from X is a striking example of what I argue in today’s column. Reform and the Tories are out here gleefully saying disabled people on Motability should be forced to drive a 3-wheeler, like a scarlet letter. The stigma is not an accident - it’s the design.

Ironically, Katie Lam was named "Parliamentary Newcomer of the Year" last night by the Spectator.

It's an example of the "Boris Johnson" problem in British politics: that being loud, self-promoting and outrageous brings prizes and name-recognition.

Learning your stuff & being thoughtful does not.

New homes: even if you build them, there’s no one to buy them We’re often told housing demand exceeds supply β€” so why are new homes struggling to be built and bought?

"So while a huge number of people need a home, there are far fewer people who can actually afford to buy one in the current housing market, due to higher mortgage rates and the difficulty of saving for a deposit." www.ft.com/content/9080...
