The goal was to integrate genomic and epigenomic features to better understand how chromatin structure, genetic variation, and other factors might influence p53 binding and activity. We learned quite a bit, so we decided to share that with everyone via web-accessible Shiny app. Check it out!

This one, led by Gaby Baniulyte and Sawyer Hicks, has a long history. This started as a COVID quarantine project for Saywer while he was just rotating in the lab. A few iterations (and 5 years later), we're excited to see it out in the world.

Thanks for the question! We hope to hire someone with a strong research focus, demonstrated productivity and creativity, a vision for their research program/area, but who also has the ability to broadly contribute to undergraduate and graduate education and training.

Absolutely no question! This is all quite disheartening.
I'm trying to find those last few straws to grasp, especially as my not good enough grants go to council this week with lab runway down to 9 months.
I appreciate all your insight on here. I'm not really "junior" but I always learn a ton!

I've now seen a few instances of well-funded labs with sub 5%ile scores not approved.
Despite how frustrating it is to get a score that good not be funded, perhaps they're prioritizing similar scores where labs are in jeopardy? Trying to find some silver lining...

5 years (or more) is not necessary. We've outsourced doctoral committee decisions to anonymous peer review when manuscripts are required AND we're accustomed to inexpensive labor.
Although this only accounts for lengthening STEM degrees. The median humanities PhD take substantially longer...

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced today that it will begin an orderly wind-down of its operations following the passage of a federal rescissions package and the release of the Senate Appropriations Committeeโs FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-H) appropriations bill, which excludes funding for CPB for the first time in more than five decades.
For nearly 60 years, CPB has carried out its Congressional mission to build and sustain a trusted public media system that informs, educates, and serves communities across the country. Through partnerships with local stations and producers, CPB has supported educational content, locally relevant journalism, emergency communications, cultural programming, and essential services for Americans in every community.
โDespite the extraordinary efforts of millions of Americans who called, wrote, and petitioned Congress to preserve federal funding for CPB, we now face the difficult reality of closing our operations,โ said CPB President and CEO Patricia Harrison. โCPB remains committed to fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities and supporting our partners through this transition with transparency and care.โ

Thanks, Ken. I am happy it was scored and know that means there is always a chance. They haven't released a new RFA yet, so technically, there is no way for me to (currently) revise if that's required.
If I can't resubmit, I'm proud of our work but need to continue submitting traditional apps.
