Save to assume Trump has destroyed $100's of billions of US over the next few years between trade & investment & high-skilled immigration & tourism. But I bet those ICE agents had some much fun coming up with racist nicknames to shout while tortoring legal foreign workers bsky.app/profile/carl...

People are homeless because they can’t afford rent.

Because capitalism wrings out every piece of productivity from people while just barely maintaining their survival so they can continue to work.

Because suffering on the streets is a threat to make you go clock in.

It’s not a personal failure.

It’s incredible how all these quislings spend their time saying Trump’s dictatorial actions are “distractions” from how unpopular he is when…dictatorial actions are obviously necessary to consolidate power despite being unpopular.

Lando's leadership of Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back turned out to be a tragically prescient parable for our time. Leaders of institutions: Pay attention! A story in four parts.

Doesn’t matter how much the @nytimes.com will two-side everything, it will never be enough to satisfy this unstable maniac. So- why continue?

Talking about social media and storytelling with students - this is a great example @jeffsharlet.bsky.social! You don't need many words to say so much.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

The German news desert - some kind of crappy "alternative" will eventually fill the gap nevertheless.

Spread the word: #OpenQDA is available as early access. It’s a new software for #coding of #qualitative #data such as #interviews, #protocols and others. OpenQDA is clear and easy to use, you can work together as a team, extend everything via plugins - and it's #opensource. openqda.org

Maybe it will be a short-lived career but a great platform to better this specific kind of media literacy. Maybe future students will have a better grasp of what journalism can be and what journalists can do.

My class seminar on political communication in the US in the summer will become a civics class. What is to be learned: The appeals court has wasted time, money, and paper deliberating on whether a stupid, self-serving argument is indeed stupid and self-serving.

Indispensable resource for digital media history, be it a content analysis of netflix's website in 2002 or a newsgame long offline now.
