If you want a place to start:

โ€œIn my game [the gameplay or story goal is this] and you do it by [describe the game loop].โ€

Iโ€™ve seen so many devs fail to articulate that and/or show it in their trailers.

Usually at best they just describe the game loop to which I ask: โ€œSo whatโ€™s the goal?โ€

I had an important realisation today:

I thought that the way that I worked was wrong, because I saw everyone else working differently.

Today I realised that they all work that way out of necessity, and being able to work in the way I do is a luxury.

Proverbial weight off my proverbial shoulders.
