I think you mean, then, that you didn’t appreciate the contribution, in which case I wonder why you’re engaging in public discourse just to make it weird and play rhetoric police without substantive rebuttal? But also I don’t care. Have a good evening.

Key Arena was a dump that contributed to falling ticket sales for years. The Moda Center is good and has nothing to do with the profitability of the team. The real limiting factor is small market dynamics and that’s what the NBAβ€”not Oregon tax payersβ€”needs to address to lift sales and expand.

2788 families in oregon were served eviction notices in january; a record high, nearly twice pre-pandemic levels.

if you're an oregonian looking for a thirty-second activity to shake your fist and demand policymakers stick up for tenants in these wretched times, here's a really easy action alert:

It’s the bipartisan anti-corruption era and that sick bastard Epstein has delivered to the people a golden opportunity to tie every rich asshole and self-serving politician to his evil crimes because that’s what thrives within the system they’ve created.

Yup. The vast majority of wealth in that horrendously upticked data point is not liquid. Their lifestyles are funded through debt, not taxable income.

We need several remedies, and to get them we need to make our electeds feel acute pain from taking single a dime from the lawless oligarch class.

There’s a % of trump voters motivated primarily by mistrust of the establishment and were invested in the idea of trump as an outsider. Now his regime is showing itself to be the most corrupt version of what they hate. Not all of them will admit they were wrong, but it’s a solid set of wedge issues.

People are losing their minds over our decision to β€œretire” their chatbot wives, but I’m sure they’ll have totally safe, normal expectations discussing their mortality with our AI doctor. What could go wrong???

β€˜Good jobs’ vs. β€˜jobs’: Survey experiments can measure the effects of question wording – and more The way polling questions are asked can influence people's answers. Survey experiments are one way to measure the degree to which different questions elicit different answers.

1/3 seemingly don’t mind if US citizens are deported? I never want to underestimate white supremacists, but I do have to wonder how polls like this are presented sometimes. Studies of polling show that fairly small nuances in wording or insufficient context can lead to confusion and sway results.

I mean, the product team did optimize for emotional resonance and it absolutely is a dark pattern intended to drive β€œengagement” (addiction). I doubt they anticipated people would pretend a chatbot was their wife and lose their minds over it, but they still deserve all the unhinged backlash.

Yeah, there’s plenty of AI that’s been in use for decades, if we’re talking about the umbrella term.

LLMs have uses. Natural language interaction can be great. They’re just not human replacements, that’s silly. They’re also made and used in some wildly stupid and unethical ways.

They’d still have to check source material for anything they write. Which doesn’t eliminate the possibility that they’re forming impressions overall that could be partially based on inaccuracies or miscontextualizations. (You’d think they’d get wise to that risk, but who knows.)

12.02.2026 02:23 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

LLMs are β€œreplacing” some jobs, yesβ€”not because they’re really good, but because someone decided they had a captive enough audience to lower quality. Same as outsourcing. (You find lots of those jobs taken by AI are actually just being performed to a lower standard by someone overseas, btw.)

12.02.2026 02:00 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

There’s often an unintended anthropomorphic belief that AI β€œgetting better” means getting smarter. It’s not. LLMs don’t possess intelligence. They’re tools that harness language. That’s powerful, but using words isn’t the same as understanding them. It’s a profound and insurmountable limitation.
