Genuinely thought this was a bit until I saw the follow-up replies. This has got to be the most radioactive "y'all" I have ever seen in a post. Like seeing a photograph of the Elephant's Foot.

I do think there is some hardcore Baudrillardian death of meaning necessary to transform a suicidal penguin into an aspiration. But the context for the DHS meme is the memes on TikTok, not the original context of the documentary. Certainly ironic, but not an embrace of nihilistic death.

I don't think this is true. The audio is all over TikTok. Like a lot of other TikTok audios, the original context has been completely stripped away through repeated use and reference. Many people view the penguin as trying to do something impossible or difficult rather than embracing certain doom.

An obvious counterargument would be that the admin can't convict its political enemies of crimes because they're simply incompetent. And I won't lie. You've got me there.

This view adequately explains the admin's actions in Venezuela. They don't have any plans to restructure the government or transform the country. But they did pluck Maduro from his seat of power and are forcing him to endure US court proceedings, a fate they consider worse than death.

It is an incredibly dim view of federal government shared by rich and powerful men like Musk, who view national governments as an impediment to their ambitions. The difference is the admin is 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 to be an impediment to certain people rather than executing a function (good or bad).
