‘I have nothing in common with the people from the north of the country, the Boko Haram where the Islamism is, those were our ethnic enemies.’
In the past, I suspect more would have been said.
I know Clara Jeffery as the mother jones editor who blocked me on Twitter when I asked what she was going to do about her employee directly calling for me and several other people to be murdered, something she’s never acknowledged 🙂

Where are all the liberal cheerleaders of Keir Starmer, who rightly railed against the Tories' migrant-bashing?
Where's your impassioned anger, your fiery polemics, now?
"did you read the article"
the article:
On Scottish budget day, remember to be very wary of 'record levels' type claims, especially if they don't specify 'real terms'. We've just lived through a period of sky high inflation so you'd better bet that in absolute monetary terms we have record funding for just about all services.

04.12.2024 15:00 — 👍 1 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0PS: Allow me to add in this context that it’s really important to recognise too that Labour are not a centre-left party. Some Labour MPs still are, for sure. The party is not though. Centre-right generally but on immigration very clearly hard right and happy to pander to far right talking points.
30.11.2024 10:40 — 👍 180 🔁 29 💬 1 📌 4Why why why can politicians never ever listen? The solution here is to build resilience against anti-immigrant rhetoric and to improve people’s lives in these communities. Labour are doing neither and this is why I maintain they are actively paving the way for a Reform Government.
30.11.2024 09:41 — 👍 263 🔁 56 💬 7 📌 4It is not an overstatement when I say that I could genuinely weep: this is 100% the *exact opposite* of what they need to do: you cannot out-Reform the Reform Party. The only thing this will do is drive more voters to Reform: voters always choose the original. *Every* bit of research shows that. 🧵

What if this kind of place-by-place change was business-as-usual for cities? Just happening constantly. It would save lives & reduce crashes for everyone, improve public health & livability, decrease pollution & climate emissions through increased walkability & much more. HT @pinoyurbanist for image

does seem a bit pointless to have a single person election in a system meant to be used for multi-member wards
22.11.2024 11:50 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Reform cumulatively won over 1,000 votes in 3 council by-elections in working-class Glasgow wards yesterday. On a terrible turnout, they polled between around 13% and 18% and came third in each contest, outpolling the Tories, Greens and Lib Dems. This is a growing worrying trend.
