Yes I am working hard this summer to rewrite many of my assignments due to this. To highlight what is being lost and to have students think about how it will change the industry. I worry about the future for the generations to come.

I remember when my Mom was ill and not eating, her doctor told us any calories are the best calories. We snuck some protein powder in chocolate milkshakes to make us feel better, she was happy with just ice cream in any form.

I am currently reading through my late parents correspondence while my dad was on a ship off of Vietnam in 1972. I am working my way through my mom’s letters to my dad first. What an insight it has given me into her and the daily life for her and the 3 crazy kids she was wrangling at the time.

It obviously could see the bottom of its food bowl through the pile of food that was sitting there.

Definitely a hero for our times.

And the government most likely paid to train that person in those languages (among all of the other experience they have gained over their career) ... what a waste.

The missing piece of this viral post is that the Texas officials are lying and deflecting blame. The NWS, hobbled as it is, issued an accurate flood watch for Kerr County the evening before and accurate escalating warnings overnight as the flood was developing.

Scams came via text and voice. Mostly voice though as they had her tagged as elderly.

So important to have a password! My mom was duped, luckily we caught it with minor damage. After that we now have a family password and it saved her a few times before her passing. After that we had her number ported to Google voice and the number of scams she was hit with weekly was astonishing.

I think it is more than just for entertainment. It definitely had a purpose to push for ocean conservation.

The maps they have used have been well aimed for the topics and audience goals.

I often have the live streams during our labs (don't tell my colleagues but even in my classes that have nothing directly to do with the ocean!). I am still amazed that when I started in this field and went to sea communication was limited, and now I sit in PA and watch remote ocean science live.

They expect more sharks, whales and dolphins! But as you say, the tiniest things are so important.

My students are always amazed at how much time we talk about phytoplankton in my oceanography course. But they play a vital roll in the ocean-atmosphere connection and ecosystems of course. #oceanchat

Reading about the hydrothermal vents in the ocean in National Geographic Magazine as a child was my first exposure to marine geology. I was always interested in how the ocean worked as a whole, not just the amazing creatures that live there. #OceanChat

Good Evening! I am a marine geologist in landlocked Pennsylvania. I spend more time teaching about the ocean than researching it these days.
