Did I ever imagine I would be a person who would drive a total of AN HOUR AND A HALF twice a week to go to Pilates? I did not. Did I ever imagine I would drive a total of forty minutes twice a week to go swimming in a grotty indoor pool? I did not. Yet here I am, doing those things.

I was NOT FIT when I went into these. I now go swimming twice a week and to reformer Pilates twice a week. Both of these have the advantage of not having to look at or be looked at by other people. I have lost quite a bit of weight and am much stronger than I was, and, to my surprise, I enjoy it.

Boo. That's all a bummer, and I'm sorry it's happening to you. I am much older than you, and in the past two years have had a hip and a knee replaced.

I have just returned to the USA, where I live, from the UK, where I was born and grew up. One of things I miss over here is phrases like "Look at the absolute state of him." Americans don't say things like that, and they don't understand it when I do.
