09.11.2025 18:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love the localized microclimates. Clear and sunny all morning here in Cheakamus Crossing. Upper Village and Alpine are usually the last to lift
09.11.2025 17:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Dog is recovering from a stressful night of protecting the house from all their scary people in costumes and the whole family yelling at the TV while eating tiny chocolate bars
01.11.2025 16:57 β π 37 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Great, now the theme song will be in my head all day π€£
31.10.2025 20:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Drop them from the fire station for charity instead
30.10.2025 23:24 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Rubble Creek trailhead is closed for Bridge repairs until November 15th. Access for Panorama Ridge, Black Tusk and Garibaldi lake via Helm Creek trail.
Currently winter conditions with significant snowfall in the alpine in Garibaldi park
Snow in the hills, turkey in the oven and Jays in the playoffs.
Happy Thanksgiving! π¦
I'm glad I'm not the only one making Dangle jokes the entire game π€£
11.10.2025 03:41 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh I agree, they keep moving the goalposts of what's acceptable legally/constitutionally/ethically.
I mean more of a nationwide scale protests, violence, crack down, political retribution, martial law further degradation of civil liberties and the collapse of the US democratic system in general
I think it's inevitable though.
It'll just take a spark / catalyst. They'll keep pouring gasoline until it catches
Callaghan Valley before the fall rain and snow sets in
06.10.2025 17:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Same. Just start saying "gabagool" in a thick Italian American accent when someone starts referencing it. They'll never know
06.10.2025 12:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Bravo Zulu. That looked like a Herculean effort by all involved
02.10.2025 22:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0*sorry Wedge NW, West widge approach . Haven't had any on NE arete in years
02.10.2025 19:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They sure are passionate! The lower trail/lake approach I'd argue footwear is even more critical in terms of ankle rolls, breaks.
Higher up, trauma was all from loose rock, foothold collapse falls and rock crush injuries. Wedge N.E approach was a big producer
The last time I attempted to address this particular fad, I was shot down by many claiming runners were appropriate on climbs like these. One of those people has now been the subject of 3-4 different rescues and many more bear misses around the province
02.10.2025 19:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I was involved in nearly all of these rescues and seeing the chatter on online forums, it absolutely was predictable. You could probably graph the rise based on trip reports and engagement alone.
You and Brad both hit the nail in terms of root causes
Honestly the uncropped headline adds even more questions
02.10.2025 16:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0First signs of snow in SW BC from the Whistler peak cam

22.09.2025 23:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's not exclusive to that group either, but it has definitely gone off the rails. Overt racism is back. I feel like we've gone back 70 years in the last decade
22.09.2025 20:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Full disclaimer, that last one was mostly AI (Skynet knows bread apparently)
22.09.2025 04:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0While there's a lot of overlap and regional variations for both breads, the biggest differentiator lies in the most common preparation method and the resulting texture: damper is typically a baked bread from the coals or hot ashwhile bannock is often fried with oil or lard in the pan over a fire
22.09.2025 04:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"Damper" is also an Australian campfire bread. Similar to aboriginal bush bread cooked over coals which most likely inspired it but dates back more specifically to colonial times as a staple for settlers and stockmen in the 19th century.
22.09.2025 03:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anything that increases connectivity in remote locations is a good thing.
Unless you're an off duty first responder on vacation, purposely out of cell range whose phone won't stop receiving rescue update π€£
I can't figure out where this is?
09.09.2025 17:25 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Significant amount of electrical activity around Whistler right now. Fortunately we're also seeing the first rain since the latest heatwave
08.09.2025 06:09 β π 1 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Current conditions. Not a great day to be riding in a grand fondo from Vancouver to Whistler
