Can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on Michael Powell’s ‘Bluebeard’s Castle’ all these years. The way it distills lust, terror and passion into blazing primary colours is astonishing. And it’s so playful with form; the treasure room overlaid on BB’s face like veins is a tremendous bit of storytelling.

Was lucky enough to see ‘I Know Where I’m Going’ at the BFI and ‘Black Narcissus’ on a nitrate print last year when they did their tribute to them. Loving the way the celebration of the Archers hasn’t let up since that season.

Fave film (well TV) to introduce me: Penda’s Fen, maybe the most perfect marriage of a screenwriter and director who are stylistic opposites, assembling something remarkable between their difference. As a study of cultural and sexual identity, it remains among the best; literate and furious. #movies

Included shots of Charles Gray’s screen test for Auric Goldfinger, a proto gold paint effect + FRWL tests. Don’t know how well known the find is but I’ll take anything at the moment!
