Woods Restrictions Lifted in Some Counties, Remain in Others

🔥Woods restrictions have been lifted in some Nova Scotia counties as wildfire risks decrease, including Cape Breton, Richmond, Victoria, Inverness, Guysborough, Antigonish, and Halifax. Remaining counties stay restricted until Oct 15 or until conditions improve.

Tuesday, Aug. 12 | 9:40 p.m. - Residents are advised that the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources has estimated that the area of the Susies Lake wildfire is 25 to 30 hectares and is out of control but progress is being made. Details: www.halifax.ca/home/news/wi...

We are on scene at an uncontrolled wildfire in the Susie Lake area of Bayers Lake. Residents are advised to stay clear of Bayer’s Lake area. Multiple road closures are in effect.

In hot, dry, windy conditions, mulch can catch fire—from decaying material that builds up heat, sparks, embers or discarded smoking materials. Prevent fires by keeping mulch moist, maintaining a 45 cm gap from structures, limiting depth to 5 cm, and fully extinguishing smoking materials.

Forest fire near Big Indian Lake – July 30, 5:45 p.m.

HRFE and NS DNR crews are on-site successfully holding a forest fire on Pipeline Road in Head of St. Margarets Bay, near Big Indian Lake. There is currently no threat to residents or structures.
