Watching how quickly some Americans jump from concern about drugs to calls for military action in Mexico is deeply disappointing. Complex problems don’t shrink under force alone. They demand accountability, cooperation, and a willingness to look inward—not just outward.

Are there other approaches that would work, alongside oversight and accountability? All I know is that things must change. Soon.

They certainly should be subjected to much greater oversight and accountability. I'm not certain how to get this put in place, tho, unless ordinary citizens run for office and make necessary changes to the laws in their countries. Even then, intent might be against common good.

Very true. Sadly, Venezuelan people didn't vote for the American government to strong arm their way in because of the amount of oil the country has. Our administration must be held accountable for crimes against other sovereign nations.

This should never b something we learn 2absorb. When a federal agency kills a mother & calls it enforcement, something fundamental has already broken. Power w/out accountability doesn’t keep any1 safe—it teaches us whose lives r treated as collateral, whether ur a citizen or not.

My view: these arrests read less like justice and more like cover—actions that sidestep legal norms while projecting authority. When process is ignored, civility erodes, and Venezuelan citizens ultimately bear the cost, not those staging the spectacle.
