I don't think that's putting me first.

I'd usually be another metre to the right here to avoid the awful road surface.

Forced into carriageway by a HGV driver... and then subsequently bullied off the road by a bus driver (who I caught up with anyway).

I can't use the cycle lane if there's a HGV parked on it!

Happily, this kind of behaviour hasn't put too many people off - need a cycle lane up Leith Street ASAP.

Yup - my last 2 police complaints about the police not doing anything in the 14 day window (despite telling the officers there is a 14 day time limit) have gone as far as an Inspector, who told me to complain to my MP (though it was phrased more tactfully than that)

I've been chasing up a report I made 6 weeks ago with a driver going through a red light (they stopped, waited 20 seconds, then got bored and went through it). I have it on camera, and the driver parked up shortly after and they're on Google Street View there. Still too much effort for them...

Here's the worst from last week. This driver will eventually hurt themselves or god forbid someone innocent with their criminal behaviour. With no portal and practically zero enforcement from @policescotland.bsky.social nothing will be done to prevent that. #DNRPoliceScotland

EXCLUSIVE: NHS Fife nurse Sandie Peggie mocked victims of Pakistan floods in series of racist posts The offensive messages, detailed below, emerged in an evidence bundle seen by The Courier at the tribunal in Dundee.

The Courier reports on Sandie Peggie's racist posts, where she used the term "p*kis" and said that, following devistating floods, Pakistan looked like a "giant bowl of coco pops".

Sandie Peggie is supported in her case by Sex Matters.

Iconic Waverley Bridge, description by EdinburghGuide.com

Waverley Bridge
Postcode
EH1
Edinburgh Area
New Town
About the venue

For many arriving in Edinburgh by train, Waverley Bridge is the first place they step foot when leaving Waverley Station. The bridge has one of the four main entrances to Waverley railway station, with roads descending into the station itself - the North and South ramps. Since 2016, the Waverley Bridge entrance is used mostly by travellers on foot and a few, select vehicles.

The bridge is located right in the heart of Edinburgh, a pedestrian and cycle thoroughfare that connects Edinburgh's Georgian New Town with the medieval Old Town, across the valley of the former Nor' Loch.

Located at the East end of East Princes Street Garden, it has fine views of the Scott Monument and the garden, and it forms part of the roof of Waverley Station, with views of trains running along railway lines below the bridge.

Waverley Bridge is one of three main routes linking Edinburgh's Old and New towns. The category A listed bridge was built between 1894 and 1896 by Blyth and Westland. The other nearby routes between Old and New Towns are The Mound to the West of Waverley and North Bridge, at the East End of Princes Street.

In June 2020, as part of emergency traffic measures brought in during the pandemic, to encourage people to social distance, walk, roll, and cycle, the Council ordered the closure of Waverley Bridge at the Princes Street junction with Waverley Bridge "and a point 40 metres or thereby south of the south kerbline of Princes Street". There is restricted access for vehicles from the Market Street end and tour buses that once clogged the bridge have relocated.

The Edinburgh City Centre Transportation Plan (2019) envisaged Waverley Bridge as a "new world-class space and gateway to the city" that makes better use of the iconic view from the bridge with "a less visually intrusive bridge parapet", more events, and possibly an information cent…

Waverley Bridge reopens to airport buses

From Sunday Waverley Bridge will no longer be a pedestrian priority street, as set out in the council’s Future Streets policy, when airport buses begin using it again as a terminus.

A bus gate was put in place on 24 June allowing both Lothian and McGill’s to run their airport services from Waverley Bridge as they did before 2020 when the bridge was stopped up at Princes Street. At that point a taxi rank was retained on the bridge and commercial vehicles continued to access Waverley Mall, but pedestrians enjoyed a quieter space where buskers gathered.

The move has come about as a result of the bus stop at South St David Street closing during the development of the former Jenners’ store into a hotel and retail units. Transport Convener Scott Arthur has confirmed that bus operators know that it is expected that buses will move back to South St David Street after the two year closure.

Footpaths at the north and south entrances to Princes Street Gardens will be widened and traffic from Princes Street will be prevented from a right turn onto Waverley Bridge.

Please note we are in receipt of your email and our management team are also aware of the issues / circumstances you have raised.

We have reviewed the footage uploaded, and read your concerns (as have our management team) and would firstly like to offer our apologies on behalf of the driver in question, and confirm that this style of driving, lane jumping and horn use is not our expected driving standards, nor the type of style we want any of our drivers to exhibit.

We hope any future interactions you may experience with our driving team are a lot more positive.

Kind Regards
