Lots of stuff here that you won't read in most of the legacy media which seems completely uninterested in the backgrounds, associations and possible motivations of those behind the BBC crisis.

Why was the BBC having its homework marked by a lobbyist who hasn't worked as a journalist for 20 years?

Benediction The story of English poet, writer and soldier Siegfried Sassoon.

massive blazing foghorn noise to make sure everyone knows that Benediction – Terence Davies' final film, one of the best of the decade so far, not available to buy in any physical format beyond DVD anywhere except France for some reason – is up on iPlayer for a full year

screen grab of Sun Sport artilce about IOC ban for trans women including a picture of Cisgender Boxer Imame Khelife

Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

I want to thank all the veterans who have served this country, but especially the transgender veterans who served and still desire to serve in spite of being treated like 2nd class citizens by the very country they defend. Thank you all for your service.

They're a serious problem around here at this time of year. Year before last had one run into the side of the car and within a fortnight, hit a second despite slamming on the brakes as soon as I saw it on the other side of the road. Barely moving at the moment of impact, thankfully.

Once again I'm gobsmacked at the number of people calling for the abolition of the BBC who have John Peel, Hitchhikers, Doctor Who, Alan Partridge or Blackadder avatars. I'm not even sure how they can have sufficient intelligence to remember that their feet go on the ground.

I guess you weren't the only one that liked them! Sometimes driving a bit of a shed has advantages. Don't have to worry too much about where you park it.

Why four? Just curious. I tend to run a car until it dies, so the model is often obsolete by the time I replace it.

Argh, saw a poem on here recently. It revolved around the phrase "get back in the kitchen", and the gist of it was "don't you know women share knowledge in the kitchen, nurture revolutions in the kitchen" etc? Anyone got any ideas?

My mother once explained to a Rauch employee on a plane to Vienna why their grape juice sold so well in Saudi. No preservatives to interfere with fermentation. She was better at it than this 'fessor.

reasons why chronically ill are so tired

- They're chronically ill

- 4.014 doctor appointments

 - Taking a shower is like running a marathon

 - Medical admin is at least a part-tim job

 - Doctors Keep taking all their blood lol

 - Medical trauma drains your energy

- Masking your illness IS exhausting -

Did mention they're ill - Advocating for yourself IS also exhausting - Constant pain drains your energy too

It really is nobody's business if you wear a mask. Immunosuppressed or just don't want a cold/flu/Covid/whatever. Maybe you don't want to share what you've already got. Maybe that should be the norm, if you can't just stay home.

Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as β€˜normal’ Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.

When I was first elected, evidence showed it would take 193 years to bring London's air pollution within legal limits.

Due to our policies, we've done it in 9.

In Brazil this week, we showed that cities are giving the world reason to hope when it comes to tackling the climate emergency.

If profit margins are higher in Florida, it makes sense to open a branch in Florida. People buy groceries everywhere, it's not an either/or option. If he thought he could do business in New Jersey, he'd be doing business in New Jersey. An obviously empty threat.

it's pretty funny how peppers produce capsaicin so they get eaten and dispersed long distance by birds instead of puny walking mammals, but then some apes decided "oh hey pain is fun actually" and now the plants made it to every part of the planet

have you noticed when u have a chronic condition that there's a basic assumption from people that u are not doing everything u fan to 'fix' it?

People that are healthy believe that they will always be healthy if they do the right things. They don't want to believe that good people get stuck with terrible circumstances for no reason. so they assume that if they got sick, they can do something to make it better and In turn if you still sick then maybe you did something wrong or you haven't done enough!
