I realized what she'd actually been trying to do about two years after the fact. At the time I was just annoyed that she was tagging me in pseudoscientific bullshit and wanted to nip it in the bud before I was drowning in "helpful" articles about leeches and ear-candling.

I used pull-quotes from the article, and outlined how to check claims like that. I think I may have included a helpful list of legitimate sources for health information.

Weirdly, she was the one who got defensive.

My MIL was trying to passive-aggressively shame me for my age, but I don't do subtext. So instead of the defensive or angry response to her Mean Girl BS she expected, I wrote a comment kindly letting her know how to tell that an article like that is BS.

Today I randomly recalled the time my MIL tagged me in one of those dumb pseudomedical Facebook articles.

This particular piece of nonsense propaganda claimed that NSAIDs are fatal for people over 40, so the 40+ crew should be taking turmeric pills for joint pain instead.

So the big party for FIL’s big round number birthday in Mr Novel’s hometown happened and it wasn’t big. The only people who traveled for it were his kids, and unlike previous celebrations, MIL either didn’t invite everyone she knows or she did and nobody came.

It is absolutely fine to hate hideous people even during their downfall and after their deaths. There should be no shame to this. It's what they spend their lives earning.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
