06.10.2025 17:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 2Shit, I've been in front of judges that don't even like doing court during normal business hours. 7pm on a Sunday is just asking for it.
06.10.2025 01:37 β π 21 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah--for me it's deal with court and/or do a bunch of research/writing/prep for court, play kid taxi, do dinner, etc, and I'm usually pretty well cooked. And that's before even dealing with the world...
06.10.2025 01:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Otherwise, it's not particularly notable. Tosk and the hunters never appear again, and aren't significant at all, but the basic story is well done.
06.10.2025 01:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Continuing my world's slowest rewatch of DS9 with "Captive Pursuit," because every franchise has gotta do a "Most Dangerous Game" riff. It's a rare O'Brien focused episode where the Chief isn't just completely miserable. Tosk seems like a proto-Jem'hadar before they worked out the kinks.

If you're part of a protest group in Chicago or anywhere in Illinois and want a free know your rights training (or free legal support for your action), let me know! Sheryl@weikallaw.com.

05.10.2025 18:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We Need You to Make Your Voice Heard Jeremy Burton On Thursday, September 25, the Massachusetts Special Commission on Combatting Antisemitism convened its twelfth hearing at the State House. This session was dedicated to public comment. The hearing brought a wide range of voices. Some used the space to air political grievances, but there were also important contributions that spoke directly to the Commission's charge: sharing lived experiences of antisemitism in Massachusetts and offering recommendations for how our schools, campuses, and state can respond.
Jeremy Burton, CEO of JCRC and member of MA Antisemitism Commission, is misrepresenting public testimony to the Commission.
He dismisses the >75% of testimony that was critical of their reliance on IHRA definition as "some used the space to air political grievances"

04.10.2025 12:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As a someone who was basically raised on TNG, I find all of Picard S3, and the enjoyment thereof, baffling. I realize it's better than S2, but S2 is so fucking awful that it becomes a low bar.
04.10.2025 01:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I know the Dad stereotype is that Dad has that weird hobby he spends time on, but man, I just have none, or at least, none I engage with with any depth. I really miss it, but I have no idea how to fix it.
Anyway, I'm gonna go look through my DriveThru RPG library now.
Our current VERY LONG 5E game is wrapping up, and I've thought about trying to run even a short session of something, but I can't focus on it. I started developing several settings on RPG.net, and keep failing to get back to them. There's games and skills I'd like to learn. And I just. Can't. Focus.
04.10.2025 01:03 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Today's gripe: I don't know if it's age, time, the world, but I feel like outside of work, I just cannot manage to stick to hobbies for shit lately.
I want to spend more time learning about Judaism, but my reading is sporadic and inconsistent. I start random gaming projects and lose track of them.
Latest folding laundry rewatch was Star Trek IV. It's fun, but I can't say I gained any new insights or appreciation. The premise is silly, but it's a good time.
In theory, I would go to Star Trek V, which I haven't seen since it was in the theaters; I'm not sure I have the fortitude for it.
My husband was detained by ICE today

I honestly thought it went completely off the rails with the New Caprica plotline, but I guess Ron Moore REALLLY wanted to make a show about the Iraq war.
03.10.2025 18:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's certainly fair. I love me some SG-1. (And I kinda enjoyed original BSG, but I was a child whenever I saw it, so my standards were pretty low).
03.10.2025 18:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Jeez.
I admit, I thought the mini series and first one to two seasons were pretty good, but it went off the rails after that.
Not sure how hyped it is these days, but my first thought was NuBSG (the mid 2000s Battlestar Galactica). The Cylons might have had a plan, but the writers sure didnβt.

Anyway, these guys remind of that. Itβs not that they canβt hurt people, but they are just giant wimps.
