People get really worked up about “misinformation” when it comes to climate change but they only ever identify it in one direction.

Businesses have noticed this is a leftwing government. Farmers have noticed. The globally mobile rich have noticed. Basically the only people who don’t think this is a leftwing government are the people who want one.

Three major news stories in the last week have been 1) the accidental release of an asylum seeker prisoner 2) the murder conviction of an asylum seeker of a hotel staff member and 3) a triple stabbing by an asylum seeker - I don’t see how they win again with this backdrop.

I get the impression that Starmer and the genie didn’t end their working relationship on good terms.

I’m not sure the comments were hypocritical really. It’s possible to hold two competing thoughts in your mind at the same time. I’m sure he does want to play but also got to balance that against the other personal factors.

Quite sympathetic to him putting his own financial / personal interests first. There’s a reasonable chance once he retires he won’t have a country he can safely return to.
