The municipality can no longer progress meaningful and impactful changes. They can try working with the Province, yet still be overridden at the final hurdle.
What's left that's safe from political interference? Collect trash, plow and maintain roads and approve the police budget without question.

Yeah completely ludicrous. How dare they plan for the province's own goal of 30% EV share by 2030. Guess that's dead too.

The province's position is that EV-friendly parking spaces means the plan is, and I quote the minister, "intentionally designed to impede housing." Pretty sure they're just fishing for excuses to dissolve city council entirely at this point.

Yeah, that “strategic retreat” seems to be working well for us.

The province: We don't need the coastal protection act because cities will protect coasts.

Halifax: We're gonna protect the coast.

The province: How about go fuck yourself.

At this point... as the world burns, as temperatures rise, as the climate descends into chaos, I don't know how to understand the doubling down on fossil fuels as anything other than at best looting what's left, but that's too generous; it's simply a death cult's enthusiastic embrace of extinction.

Please remember, when I die being hit by a tractor-trailer while cycling, it was because there are no bike lanes in Halifax, and that I was doing my best to avoid being in the woods while also reducing my carbon footprint. #nspoli

The plan ignores the easiest and least expensive ways to reduce congestion:

- Allowing people to work from home
- Build bike lanes so people can bike to work

Why do people in PC ridings (all outside HRH) give a shit about bike lanes?

I emailed my rural PC MLA and the Premier a week ago in support of Morris St and against strong mayor powers. Haven't heard a peep back.

A "common sense" decision would require politicians to follow recommendations and plans developed by transportation professionals, as was already achieved in HRM.
Province is saying those professionals are wrong, they are right.
