It was in part a reaction to NAFTA too tbf. Pretty natural given NAFTA by definition removes economic independence.

I think the NDP is too well developed to allow space for the PCs at this point. It's somewhat unfortunate because the crazies have successfully kept the PCs under their tent for that reason. On the other hand it's still a great time to be ANDP. We have funding and have our biggest opposition ever.

I think the total petition count will be twice the separation one when it comes. It got 456k signatures iirc.

Yes, esp considering we still receive a very large proportion of young working people from other parts of the country. I agree that this site represents a group that will be less willing to grant Alberta anything as a nice place to live, which is a shame because I'm very left and I think it's swell!
