Cornell paid millions to get illegally frozen grants unfrozen, and effectively agreed to help the Trump regime's assault on academic freedom to get bad faith investigations dropped, while also agreeing the govt can launch new investigations!

I think specifically with reality TV there is a very over-represented-in-the-culture audience of sophisticated, highly educated people who consume it basically as a self-consciously trashy or even ironic guilty pleasure and I can't emphasize enough that this is NOT the typical reality tv audience.

ChatGPT encouraged college graduate to commit suicide, family claims in lawsuit against OpenAI | CNN A 23-year-old man killed himself in Texas after ChatGPT β€˜goaded’ him to commit suicide, his family says in a lawsuit.

I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

Earlier Thursday, Trump had posted to social media a new statistic from the retail giant Walmart that Thanksgiving dinner would cost 25 percent less this year than last year. (It’s not actually that simple, because the meals aren’t the same: This year’s feast nixes sweet potatoes, pecan pie, corn muffins, whipped cream and a handful of vegetables which were included in last year’s.)

I participated in building Biden’s Official White House website, and given that it was an official government resource, the restrictions on political messaging were considered deeply important and severe. This is a joke. It of course breaks the law, but deeper, it breaks the very spirit of the law

Statement from The NewsGuild of New York and CondΓ© United
on illegal firing of four union leaders who demanded answers about this week’s layoffs at Teen Vogue, other brands
Late Wednesday night, CondΓ© Nast’s VP of Labor Relations notified the Guild that the Company was immediately terminating four CondΓ© United leaders for engaging in the protected concerted activity of gathering in their 1 World Trade Center office to demand answers on this week’s abrupt layoffs at multiple brands including WIRED and the consolidation at Teen Vogue.
These egregious terminations are a flagrant breach of the Just Cause terms of our contract and an unprecedented violation of their federally protected rights as union members to participate in a collective action.
Through these illegal terminations, CondΓ© Nast management is attempting to intimidate and silence our members' advocacy for the courageous cultural and political journalism of Teen Vogue, as well as diverting attention away from the obvious lack of corporate leadership at the company.
CondΓ© United members illegally fired are:
Alma Avalle: Writer, digital producer at Bon Appetit; NewsGuild of New York first vice president, trans activist, and union leader
Jake Lahut: Wired senior reporter covering the Trump White House
Jasper Lo: Senior fact checker at The New Yorker and US Army veteran: outgoing first vice chair of The New Yorker Union
Ben Dewey: Videographer at CondΓ© Nast Entertainment, former vice chair of the CNE unit
β€œManagement’s attempt at union-busting, using intimidation and grossly illegal tactics to try to suppress protected union activity, will not stand,” said Susan DeCarava, president of The NewsGuild of New York. β€œThe NewsGuild of New York has zero tolerance for bad bosses who harass, target and disrespect our fellow Guild members. We represent nearly 6,000 media workers across the tri-state area and we stand firmly in solidarity, ready to fight for the rights of our members illegally fired from their jobs at …

The claim that Mamdani is anti-Semitic rests entirely on the idea that well, surely he *must* harbor those beliefs secretly because of his religion.

That's an approach that has itself fueled a lot of *actual* anti-Semitism and is deeply dangerous to push.

Alt National Park Service: It was just after sunrise in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood when parents began arriving at Rayito de Sol Spanish Immersion Early Learning Center, a cheerful brick preschool known for its bilingual songs and bright murals. Toddlers shuffled in with backpacks half their size, clutching their parents’ hands, the smell of coffee drifting through the cool November air.

Then, the calm routine of drop-off broke apart. Two unmarked SUVs rolled to a stop on the narrow side street. Federal agents stepped out (vests marked ICE) and moved quickly toward a small blue sedan idling near the curb. A teacher everyone knew as Miss Diana had just parked and was gathering her things for class.

Witnesses say the agents called her name, their voices sharp. She looked startled, frozen for a moment, then hurried toward the daycare entrance. Parents thought at first it was some kind of mistake, maybe an accident or a misunderstanding. But within seconds, the scene turned chaotic.

The agents followed her up the short steps and through the glass vestibule. Inside, children could be heard laughing down the hall, unaware. Staff members rushed forward, shouting for the agents to stop. One mother cried out, β€œThe kids are right there!” But the sound of the struggle a door opening, a command barked in English, and then the teacher’s voice, trembling: β€œYo tengo papeles! I have papers!" echoed down the hallway."

AltNPS's post is full of the same lurid details and breathless dramatization as their previous attempt at ICE raid erotica from a few weeks ago.

Things that AltNPS could not possibly have witnessed, and which aren't reported anywhere else.
