I recently had a problem with pointing a domain to a Google web host only to eventually find out that the values were different depending the DNS provider. The Namecheap root host settings were different to Google DNS for instance

Changing name servers always takes time to propagate. It depends on your TTL (time to live setting) but should probably be less than an hour. Changing DNS settings are always a fraught experience.
