Christmas special Face The Music tonight

Couple of Qs about Christmas music, Away In A Manger as the (not very) hidden melody and David Willcocks as guest

No decorations, silly hats, jumpers, festive sign-off. Just perfect

Need to get my postcard in for the crossword competition tomorrow, mind

I watched it

Desperate

Ultra chunky horror and colours Ravelry would describe as "clown barf"

Only way I respect it is if they gave them a task to do over a week, then bring it in for judging

Yeah, there was but it wasn't even an occasional read for me

Those were Mandy, Bunty, Dandy and (later) Jackie although that was viewed as too racy by my mother so I had to rely on grandma being none the wiser when I was staying with her

Surprised I got away with LookIn to be honest - all that pop

Mine in approximately the right order:

Twinkle, Diana, Whizzer 'n' Chips, Look In, Look & Learn

Absolutely central to my reading development

Or some kind of Beloved Iconic Classicβ„’ called Mac 'n' Cheese with extra shizz like truffle oil or, I dunno, poached dormice in it

You can have mine next time

I've just tried to sew a collar onto a shirt for Mr S and made the sort of botch of it that makes me feel like setting light to the whole thing (I haven't - yet), so normal balance of universe restored

Just got my reward!

Ordered some council compost. First delivery date no good as we were away. We need bags lifted to top of steps, which means their Big Lorry

Rang today to see what's going on. They came round (after hours) to recce, so they've got a plan, don't need us to be in, all good!

I did this on Friday, for today

Not only did I get a team point, she instantly started trying to book me in for another one. It took me 3 goes to persuade her I didn't want one at all!

We are today's heroes ⭐⭐

If it is, we've been living in the Caliphate here for years without realising

Has he been told about oilseed r*pe spreading across rural areas like a neon plague and applied his usual level of skill and judgement?

Lovely

We have a "badger balloon" on the grass slope at the end of our road. A week old now

As an occasional (choir) participant in concerts with big orchestras, I'm still childishly amused when the conductor or someone refers to, say, the LSO or the Philharmonia assembled in front of them as "the band"

Cover of an acclaimed album of either experimental EDM or Brahms solo piano music, your choice

Looking v good if I may be so bold

Extract from Wiki providing inadequate information about Dr Norman Haire's trial for assault with a handbag

Fascinating

I might be even more interested in the life and times of Norman Haire

What an amazing sounding chap. Wiki entry tantalisingly scattergun (see below - what happened I wonder?). Might have to head off to the newspaper archives!

No!!! Off to do the same right now. Thanks (I think)

Tbqhwy I've never opened it till this morning

The bits I read seemed really quite sensible and surprisingly enlightened

Happy to share what it says on any topic anyone might want to suggest...

We didn't think we were on the same page, until the penny dropped!

We weren't at the Galashiels cinema but I'm tempted to go just for the craic, since *everyone* I know here knows and loves John, the film's hero

Agree absolutely

Except...

I Swear last week. Chat and loud crisp-eating started behind us (people who choose to be at the front)

The place was full of mental health service users. As it went on, the chat focused on what was going on. We stopped being annoyed. We all had a fab time

Great film

Almost mint condition

Thin wartime paper, though. 540 pages

Chapter 38...

23 is of course "Sexual Aberrations: Conclusion"

I especially like the sound of Chapter 23, "At The Gynaecologist's"

A Ladybird book that never quite made it to production perhaps

I can offer you a look (supervised) at this if you like?

Found when clearing childhood home. Priced in rupees, so bought during Dad's national service

Spaniel sitting by the cut timber in B&Q, looking very pleased with himself

Borrowed the neighbours' dog again today

Reginald was a good boy on his first ever trip to B&Q, and he got a proper fuss made of him by the nice lady in the till before his walk back home with Mr S

He seemed to enjoy himself too

You seen the stuff today about the Sewing Bee clone but for knitting and with Tom Daley presenting??

I honestly think I'd rather watch Traitors on repeat than a single minute

Utterly depressing prospect

Totes obvious, borderline offensively obvious point, but you have made a will, yes? So the stuff goes to who you want it to send not down the intestacy lines

(Especially vital for those who are not married to the person they want to leave it all to - they get zilch if there's no will)

I'm seldom up to big thoughts at this time myself but now I'm having to think (again) about Wagner who is the acid test of this for me. Love the art, hate the artist... Just been to the Ring Cycle: at least that gives you plenty of time to ponder it all I suppose
