Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?
The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it
We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trumpโs America becoming Farage's Britain.
My fear is that Reeves has created the least conducive environment to have this conversation. But we are were we are. There is a very rare political space to make the case for tax reform: you're going to take the hit anyway, so why not do it in a way that could maximise growth?
05.11.2025 18:38 โ ๐ 88 ๐ 9 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0In addition to everything Dylan says in this thread, itโs just a bit tragic for *a government four years from an election* to be saying โthey hate him more than usโ. That just shouldnโt be your focus four years out!
05.11.2025 18:28 โ ๐ 310 ๐ 48 ๐ฌ 18 ๐ 5What if there was a consensus on the tax reforms the UK needs?
What if it was backed by policy experts from think tanks across the political spectrum, from the Adam Smith Institute to the Resolution Foundation?
The consensus is real. The question is: will anyone act on it?
This is the president of the United States taking a break from gold-and-marble interior renovations to say heโll defy a court order to feed hungry Americans.
Nero would be proud.
The first thing Yaxley-Lennon did on leaving court was to thank Elon Musk for funding his legal costs.
That's Elon Musk who has repeatedly called for civil war in the UK.
As of typing this - all of the major politicians and platforms maintain a presence on X and it is time for them all to leave.
I hope the BBC will challenge Nigel Farage today over the economic damage caused by the Brexit he championed.
He needs to be held to account for the damage he's done instead of always being given an easy ride.
