Both of my kids were born in the UK. The first cost me a whopping Β£12 because he spent 5 days in the ICU and I therefore had to buy a multi-day parking pass. My daughter was cheaper. A couple day passes for about Β£4 each.

I think 2 is still Star Alliance and 5 is OneWorld, but I checked and Aer Lingus has a limited codeshare with BA. I bet that’s what happened. I used to fly LHR-DUB a lot and Aer Lingus was super cheap.

That said, I made the same error as Noah at EWR. It never occurred to me there was an inter-terminal bus.

I had some colleagues who did it when heading to Germany. I told them to allow two hours at a minimum, and that was assuming they found the correct shuttle bus.

The UK was never part of Schengen, so Brexit shouldn’t have affected that process too much. It was always a pain to enter the UK from the Schengen zone. I used to live in London, and I’d never have considered a flight involving a terminal change.

I saw that billboard last summer!

Ah, but if he’d done that, it should have been via the same terminal. Booking a Dublin to Paris flight via LHR and a terminal change from 2 to 5 takes effort.

He also said he’s gonna put some cameras on cars and they’ll just drive themselves wherever you want. Like, you won’t even need a driver. Because AI or some shit like that.

Minnesota has been see-sawing between crystal clear and choking Canadian wildfire smoke for the past three years. Apparently the fire smolders under the snow and reignites in the spring.

I thought it was funny when I read it in Iain Banks’ The Player of Games.

Also, it was the cyclamates that were mixed with the saccharine that turned out to be carcinogenic.

That’s from an Ian Banks novel. The only crime in the future is murder, and if you do it, they β€œslap-drone” you. A drone follows you for the rest of your life to make sure you don’t do it again.

I could even have supported an effort to rebuild domestic manufacturing through an escalating tariff regime across a few years. Maybe. We’re not doing that, we got β€œ25% on Canada for mean quoting of Reagan!”

Let’s say tariffs were vital to national security. How β€˜bout going to Congress and passing one of those law thingies?

We got a citywide ordinance that said any single family home is hereby zoned as a duplex if you want. People freaked out, screaming β€œWhat about the parking? Have you no sympathy for the parking?”

Looking at this picture just caused all the titanium in my L5-S1 fusion to eject itself. The cat took shrapnel.

It’s a good show, and it’s genuinely original, and her acting is a highlight. She played Amy Winehouse in the movie as well. She really knows how to become a character.

It would also be funny to see shows get MAGAfied, like drop Steve Bannon into Celebrity Survivor.

Also, I’m not sure how much I care. I’d like to see the end of this MAGA fake patriotism, but that’s a different issue. If CBS wants to be Fox News, why not let them? Broadcast isn’t special anymore, and the alt-right exists irrespective either way. They can watch Fox or CBS if they like.

While watching the first episode of Industry, I decided Marisa Abela should be the next Bond. It seemed obvious to me. She could nail the character.

Reminds me of the herd immunity people - everyone needs to get covid and then recover from covid in order to stop covid.

My 9th grade civics teacher was one of the last people to opt out of Social Security. He was proud of his decision. He called it a pyramid scheme that was doomed to fail.

Unfortunately, he probably means selecting a plan that is β€œright for you”. Young, healthy people can get a nice cheap catastrophic plan with a huge deductible. Then, if you get cancer or something, you upgrade to a more comprehensive plan. Makes total sense, right?

What we need is a *perpetual* mortgage. You pay the costs of to service a loan and maintain the property. The genius of my plan is that you don’t need capital. Specialists can do it for you and pass on the costs to you. You can even leave the property and easily pass the payments to another.
