I feel like my brain did a pretzel at
“Saying something is "offensive" and that it's "disrespectful"… depends primarily on the dialect of the person speaking to you.”
Like, I definitely speak the former dialect with my extended family and the latter basically everywhere else.

I really like the way you frame tests. I’ve tried suggesting test-first as a development mode but building in hard requirements seems like a good idea.
My workflows around this stuff are still pretty flimsy and I’m trying to get better.

Every year at my physical I ask my doctor for the vaccine and every year they tell me to call insurance.
It felt like someone pulled my nerves out of my chest and back and hooked a 9 volt battery to both ends. I’ll take the vaccine thanks.

I got it without any complications when I was 26. The worse I’ve ever felt in my life and I’ve had migraines and adverse reactions to migraine meds that were truly awful.
I’ve got a friend who also got shingles without issues in her 20s, then again in her 30s and lost partial vision in one eye.

I’m curious do you have Claude write docs for you as well to make it easier for you to pick back up context later? Or do you ever peek into the AGENTS .md to get up to speed with what it’s doing?

It’s so important that we make this specific group of 6 people completely irrelevant on day 1 of the next dem administration.
It’s of the utmost importance that their Wikipedia articles have no further entries in the “career” section.

“3. Was it legal in practice?
Suppose that the killing did violate U.S. statutes prohibiting U.S. citizens from committing murder while abroad. Would this really violate "law"? …”
Additional text from op’s blog showing asinine thought processes that can hardly be called reasoning.
“1. Was it moral and good?
Yes, I would say. If it is a choice between killing a drug runner and letting him be picked up by his friends so he can return to his immoral business, he should be killed. Note that I can say this confidently even if I don't believe in the death penalty for drug running. If I do, as many would do, then the question is even simpler.
2. Was it legal in theory?
This is a hard and subtle question...”
So the thing is… this guy is a fucking idiot.
I’m genuinely unsure if he’s able to string together two thoughts into a third though without hurting himself by accident. From his blog…

“I can’t tell the difference between bombing a group of men to death without jurisdiction or due process and arresting a group of men suspected of a crime for detainment and prosecution” is potentially more disqualifying than falling for peek-a-boo.

If mommy is right in front of me and raises her hands up, obscuring her face, is she gone? Her face has not gone anywhere. Should we cry for mommy to come back?

I’m laughing at the guy who dug through 15 years of Wikipedia article history to find a map and then totally whiff the point he’s trying to make.

Screenshot of the 2011 version of the Wikipedia page on the Falkland Islands territory dispute.
The text begins…
International position
International position on the sovereignty of the Falklands
Then the map that is in the grandparent post. Then there is a legend…
Green: Falkland Islands
Bright blue: The United Kingdom
Muted blue: Countries which support the United Kingdom's claim
Green: Neutral countries which generally support the United Kingdom's claim
Bright red: Argentina
Red: Countries which support Argentina's claim
Muted red: Neutral countries which generally support Argentina's claim
Then there is some text describing the map…
The international position on the sovereignty of the islands is varied, with some countries supporting the British claim; with others supporting the Argentine claim. Some countries maintain a neutrality on the issue.
It seems they went to the 2011 (?) version of the Wikipedia page to get this??

This is a writing style that sees sermons in church as the highest literary/rhetorical form.
And people who write and think this way tend to think anything more sophisticated or carefully reasoned is just pretending or obfuscating.

Spot on. I immediately recognize this writing style because it’s how I was taught to write (went to a fundy school) and it takes work to relearn how to think and write when this is what you were taught.

Unfortunately the Trump action tracker is limited in that it’s focused on Trump, so it has recorded that some northwestern funds were frozen but not that they folded.
It would have been a lot less work to keep the journal up even if I went back and found links for it all later.

I started a list of things in my own Logseq notes in the beginning of the administration when there was a new thing every day, but fell behind and stopped updating it.
I’ve been meaning to sort through the Trump action tracker and organize it all in that same system, but I just haven’t had time.

Okay I gave this a deeper read and I take back my earlier skepticism about the format. The content is good, and the Wittgenstein references in the text are mostly references to later Wittgenstein, or are specifically called out as departures from TLP.

I was really confused because this tweet was the first I saw of the news and his use of “animal” for whatever reason read literally to me. I was confused how some dog or goose managed to shoot two guardsmen.
I may be a little low on sleep.

Their high school science teachers tried to tell them about the difference between accuracy and precision and they just never listened.
SMH now here they are tuning servers to a degree of precision that, were it physical, could slice apart DNA.

I only know Rovelli from his pop sci stuff and like, the most high-level surface understanding of his work. I just looked it up and I didn’t realize he’s done real work in the philosophy of science.
I didn’t know he’d written a whole book on Anaximander? Now I want to read the paper more deeply.
