And people who write and think this way tend to think anything more sophisticated or carefully reasoned is just pretending or obfuscating.

Spot on. I immediately recognize this writing style because it’s how I was taught to write (went to a fundy school) and it takes work to relearn how to think and write when this is what you were taught.

Unfortunately the Trump action tracker is limited in that it’s focused on Trump, so it has recorded that some northwestern funds were frozen but not that they folded.

It would have been a lot less work to keep the journal up even if I went back and found links for it all later.

I started a list of things in my own Logseq notes in the beginning of the administration when there was a new thing every day, but fell behind and stopped updating it.

I’ve been meaning to sort through the Trump action tracker and organize it all in that same system, but I just haven’t had time.

Okay I gave this a deeper read and I take back my earlier skepticism about the format. The content is good, and the Wittgenstein references in the text are mostly references to later Wittgenstein, or are specifically called out as departures from TLP.

I only know Rovelli from his pop sci stuff and like, the most high-level surface understanding of his work. I just looked it up and I didn’t realize he’s done real work in the philosophy of science.
