I see people talk about ICE by calling them the Gestapo, and while its not hard to see the comparison; they really aught to be compared to something homegrown. Because in truth, the closest thing we can compare ICE to is to federal slave catchers. The operation is the same.

With the twin tools of revolutionary optimism (I believe that we will win) and revolutionary defeatism (it’s good that bad things happen to me as a person in the imperial core) I am immune to all attacks

to be fair, when a waymo crashes into a st louis gay bar at 2AM after running 3 stop signs, it cannot then arrest the owners of the bar for yelling at them

when you understand that patriarchy views children as sexual property it all makes sense. there's no hypocrisy. exposure to queerness & transness threatens to "corrupt" the father's property, to "lead them astray" into self-determination, to taint their future sexual value. CSA is permissible as >

Screenshot of Tweets that say:

"Once at my granny's house my uncle excitedly said a James Bond film was on the tv. My Da said "sure they're all the same, a load of lads shooting at one lad then a mountain blows up." My uncle got really mad at how reductive that was then became furious when the mountain blew up.

My Da, of course, knew it was the one where the mountain blows up at the end. This was a foundational lesson which illustrated to me that walking the path of the hater means knowing more about something that people who profess to like it."

One reason I don't think it's useful to argue about the correct tactics for Democrats to win elections is winning elections isn't enough. They've won the presidency 5 out of 9 times since 1992 and where are we now. The question is how we create something better than a dead cat bounce party

In the future it will be very popular to forget some of the words and actions of powerful liberals and associated institutions during this time and accurately remembering them will be pathologized. You'll feel like you're losing your mind but thats just having a memory and some form of conscience.

no matter your politics it’s disrespectful to joke about someone’s death. don’t say dick cheney died when he was out hunting and tried to shoot a bird in a tree but missed and hit a big branch which fell on his dick and smashed him flat and then the bird pooped on his head. don’t say stuff like that

Polls show that only 33% of Americans blame Democrats for the shutdown. But at this Atlantic staff Zoom meeting, that percentage feels much higher.

CHOTINER: So you're attending a No Kings protest today.

ME: That's right.

CHOTINER: But according to Steam, you've played over 450 hours of Crusader Kings 3.

ME: Okay, well- Now hold on. That's sort of unfair.

CHOTINER: Oh?

ME: Sometimes I play as a duke or a count.

CHOTINER: I see.
