"During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for. It didn't look like we were going to win then and we did. It doesn't feel like we're going to win now but we could. Keep fighting, keep dancing.

As a disabled and marginal person, I burned out badly because I lost all access to the dance. Maybe if I regain that I'll heal enough to return to the fight. That is the first spark of hope I've felt in a long time.

A certain healthcare corporation who needs a new chief executive today once laid my dad off at 39.5 years of service so he wouldn’t be entitled to the 40 year pension. His team raised money themselves to give him a watch with β€œ39.5 Years” engraved on it. I think about that watch A LOT.

In the real-world trolley problem, Track One has thousands of people tied to it, and Track Two has billions of dollars in corporate profits. The trolley departs every day on a regular schedule, always taking Track One, and nobody does a thing about it.

That's why there's an aggressive effort now to blame "identity politics," it's a retcon because Harris ran exactly the campaign centrists wanted, catering to conservatives, never criticizing Netanyahu, never blaming billionaires or big corporations, the worksβ€”just to lose to Old Man Yells at Cloud.

The right wing never gives up, never admits defeat. They just regroup and find a new wedge to hammer on. Bathrooms didn't work out the gate, so they aimed at sports, which got traction. So now they're back at bathrooms.

The shooter was then sighted walking alone to the New York Hilton Midtown – where Thomson was scheduled to speak at a conference – about five minutes before the victim arrived, police said.

The suspect then stepped out from behind a car and gunned Thompson down, hitting him in the back and right calf, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.

I think I know the answer to this, but does the NYPD go all Enemy of the State like this when the victim is, say, a 17-year-old Bed-Stuy resident rather than a 50-year-old Minnesota resident who happens to run an evil organization?

Violence is part of our history.

Violence is incumbent in exploitive systems, and exploitation provokes backlash.

We are in a period of great wealth inequality, worker oppression, and social and cultural change.

Violence will likely be part of our future, unless people’s needs are addressed.

If you're more upset with Biden being forced to consider the extraordinary step of peremptorily pardoning his own officials then you are about Trump appointing someone who’s promised to use the federal govt to exact personal retribution for Trump, then you need to think a little more critically.

Thoughts on Hunter pardon:

- I don’t love it, but I completely understand why he did it

- with everything the incoming administration is telling us they’re going to do, we probably need to stop handcuffing ourselves with standards they won’t follow
