I knew it would take less than a day for a tiktok dj to make something.

It's so exhausting, watching the media treat the GOP as "boys will be boys" and the Democrats as, "Well, what were you wearing?"

The oligarchy came out in full force against Zohran Mamdani's fight for a more affordable NYC.

It didn't matter.

Let his victory in the face of Big Money serve as a reminder that people have the power.

I felt like today's news was an unkind tease from the Universe, but my spouse said maybe it's less a tease and more an amuse bouche.

Look, all I know is I enjoy food shopping because the grocery store is always playing my jam.

She's so pretty! We registered with a dog rescue bc my kid fell in love with a blue heeler mix on their page. By the time we'd gotten approved he had a home (yay) but man, what a cool breed. We ended up with a hound-husky mix, also excellent and currently staring intently at me as I eat hash browns

Thanks for this, papawoof. Some days a person really needs the reminding and today is one of those days. :)

(Like, the only time I wrote-in a candidate was when he ran for re-election bc I hated him so much and couldn't bring myself to vote for him but I wasn't going to vote GOP, obv. But boy, did I make sure not to miss his daily COVID updates.)

Such a lesson to me about how easy it is to be duped when things are scary. I fucking HATED him prior to COVID, then during it, as an NYCer, tuned in to him every day bc he was the only person who seemed to be telling it straight, but no, in the end he was the same creep he'd always been.

@andylevy.net Enjoyed hearing you on FastPolitics this week; not gonna lie, though, what I was left with after was an incredible dose of envy that you saw Asia at Forest Hills.

I can still remember where I was and what I was doing when I popped the cassette for โ€œIndigo Girlsโ€ into my Walkman for the first time and pressed play. Great choice.

Zohran Mamdani Has Less Experience But More Integrity Than Andrew Cuomo, Most Of Democratic Leadership The desperate flailing from Cuomo campaign continues.

Oh man, I love this movie so, so much. Whatever small desire I had to go spelunking before I saw this movie, it completely erased it.

(Agree with other commenter that the sequel doesn't make a lick of sense. But the original, chef's kiss.)

In the 1990s I was on a children's theater tour from NYC. We were playing a few shows in Austin, went sightseeing, and the tour guide for the state capital quoted that commercial to us. You are right; Gen Zers will never know.

We're all, at some point, if things seem bad enough, vulnerable to the siren call of the strong man routine, is what I'm saying. I fell for it in 2020 with him; I hope never to fall for it again.

Me too, even though I HATED him before COVID (and again, after). It was a lesson to me that, when times are scary, it's very easy for even those of us who think we're strong critical thinkers, to get caught up in wanting someone in charge who acts like they know what they're doing. Lesson learned.

When musicians donโ€™t know how to end a song, they just fade out. I think other writers should do that too. Sketch comedy, screenwriting, playwrights. Have everyone talk softer and softer as they slowly sneak off stage.
Novelists can end chapters with gradually shrinking type.

That's a heck of a turkey neck in that profile. We should talk more about that. That's a real turkey neck. Someone should ask him how he feels about being depicted with such a turkey neck.

I had to go help my stepmom with a move for most of this week, and it didn't even occur to me to think about what the kid was gonna eat; I knew my husband would be on top of everything. I cannot imagine being in this woman's kind of marriage. Ugh. She deserves better.
