Exactly this. Cyclists etc already suggest to each other that hiviz, lights, helmets are a good idea in places with bad bike infrastructure. But when agencies with the power to do far more effective things emphasise hiviz, it signals clearly that they don't want to do those more effective things.

I don’t think it matters how much hi-viz a person is wearing when an Amazon delivery van is reversing down the footpath at speed - just saw this on Griffith Ave in Dublin. The footpath’s wide enough to fit a van so sure enough some delivery driver will attempt to bomb down it backwards. #RoadSafety

Mine was genuinely quite good, to the extent that I used to get "special invigilator" jobs as a postgrad supervising students who might/would need someone to step in and have them dictate their answers to them.

Between the essays and diaries and writing letters to people, my handwriting muscles were totally match fit. Not like the sorry state they're in now.

God I had great handwriting when all my college essays were handwritten (though did once get informed for one history one that my ink was the wrong liturgical colour for the season).

Had my own room (or room with me and partner) for all of this.

Never lived alone, though never shared with anyone who wasn't a friend or partner - moved from family home (at 20, in 1992) into shared house with friends, then various combinations of shared places until I bought with partner in 2006.

..but yeah, also, big second-hand market so probably not all being sold by retailers or people who care if they're road-legal or not.

From looking at a sample of second-hand ones on Done Deal, they are NOT CHEAP.

For variety, we've had at least one burnt-out scrambler in our local park.

Genuinely, where do they come from? Do parents buy them for their teenage children? Are there shops that sell them for motocross use and DGAF that they're, eg, being used to do high speed wheelies in my local park?
