Currently reading the Australian Astronomy decadal plan 2026–2035, which was led by the awesome @drgin.bsky.social - Chair of the Editorial Board and National Committee for Astronomy. 👏👏👏

This excellent cover art is called 'Seven Sisters, 2024' by Wajarri Yamaji artist Noeleen Hamlett.

No telescope needed: how to navigate the Australian night sky in summer | Virginia Kilborn Spot planets, galaxies and constellations in the Australian night sky – and look out for more auroras in 2025 as the sun reaches solar maximum

Had such a nice time looking at the night sky, I wrote this short piece for The Guardian about how to find your way around the sky using the stars 🤩

Of course !! Ngc 2915 is also a favourite - has a huge disk of hydrogen gas and a tiny disk of stars at the centre… always makes me ask why didn’t the other gas form stars? 🤔

Love this !! I wrote a paper on this galaxy and the group it resides in, have a soft spot for it so it’s very exciting to see the supernova!
