Your Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears?

Tricky. It seems to have been an in between year for music and film. But there is this (and Ulysses and Wasteland, which I admire more than enjoy)

Think our primary school teachers bought it too, as one of my strongest early memories is singing Un Dydd Ar Y Tro in assemblies

Yes, this relies on each 3rd placed team having an equal chance of being in the top 8. But 3K has one of the most difficult schedules of any 3rd team

England can increase their chances of playing 3K by getting big wins against their own group’s minnows, so 3L fall behind 3K in the standings

Finally got one! (Probably)

Yep, and once you know it’s a silent CK and the W is pronounced V, you realise how the next tube station along got its name too

Think if Harry Potter’s 6,000 daily visitors all paid an extra Β£20 each on top of the normal train fare, it would cover the cost of Crossrail 2 in roughly 1,000 years

Surely getting thumped by Colombia and Portugal makes the 3rd place team in K less likely to qualify in the first place?

Need to simulate the results first before working out which combos are most likely

And where segways have found their niche - tours of historic cities that are slightly too big or hilly to walk easily - it’s where you don’t mind looking like a dickhead, coz you’re on holiday

My listening age was 77 and I’m blaming that on your challenges too!

Most MPs have their security passes on lanyards. I’m sure the likes of Rees-Mogg had theirs on a pocket watch chain instead

TfL pushed a wider approach on Crossrail and will likely do so again on Bakerloo. As did GM on HS2 Phase 2/NPR

But it wouldn’t be surprising to see short-term sales take precedence over longer-term interests there too (3/3)

So DfT will be nervous about that this is outside β€˜railway purposes’ now. They could transfer the land to development corporations or local authorities for regen, or sell to LCR Property/Platform 4, but hanging on to it is tricky (2/3)

Clause 47(1) of the HS2 Bill as originally introduced, showing a broad CPO power that was lost in the Lords

Clause 47(1) of the HS2 Bill as originally introduced, showing a broad CPO power that was lost in the Lords

Historically commercial redevelopment and regeneration have been seen as outside the scope of β€˜railway purposes’ unless very closely related to running the railway - making money for it wasn’t enough

The original bill did include a broader comp purchase power for this, but that was lost (cont)

To be fair to Labour, HS2’s powers to take and use land were set when the hybrid bill for Phase One passed, back in 2017 - this will likely be land they have to give back

Wonder if that’s why iPlayer, which isn’t competing in quite the same way, can sometimes be good for browsing: it at least gives you categories to skim through

It also depends on whether Chase & Status, Little Mix, the cast of Encanto (and K-Pop Demon Hunters), Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Chain Smokers, Major Lazer or Ladbaby count as β€œbands”

Love it whenever I’m reminded of the existence of American Music Club

26.11.2025 23:33 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, my vague recollection is that their name used to be the full word, then they adopted the abbreviation and misspelling (which also appeared like American slang) to avoid censorship. But I was a teenager several thousand miles away.

26.11.2025 23:31 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

They did, but it was also clear what NWA was an abbreviation for: they spelled it out on track 1 of the album

The band definitely used an -az rather than an -ers ending, I wonder if this was a subeditor β€˜correcting’ that?
