In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Hard for me to say how this is different from Fox News's entire business model, except that it's less sophisticated. This is transparently and obviously bad — and Elon should ban these accounts — but the spirit here of trading rage for money is pretty much a lot of right-wing media.

People believe & say this, yes. All the sentiment polls show it. And yet, all the inflation-adjusted wage, income & consumption data & revealed preferences on travel, retail, etc., strongly suggest otherwise. Just write what is actually true & you can prove.

Also, again, one reason we’ve played so much Calvinball about inflation & the 2024 election is because of articles like this that casually & lazily equate price <levels> & “inflation.”

Again, I don't doubt what folks say about inflation & the economy. It's just that the data do not suggest voters' behavior accords with what they're saying.

If we have a price level theory of 🇺🇸 politics, let's actually develop & test it. If gas prices no longer matter, let's figure that out. Etc.
