So since I'm annoyed let me say a few things today. Some folks have been writing about Christian Nationalism and apocalyptic right wing movements for YEARS here in the US. YEARS. Do we get to have a platform in major mags and newspapers... rarely.

I'm currently traveling for a Historic Preservation Conference, so naturally I had to check out some of the local bookstores.
Got some books off my academic wishlist, and grabbed a couple of childhood books for nostalgia's sake

For those considering letting up on Disney/ABC on account of Kimmel coming back, that energy can and should be turned full force toward Nexstar and Sinclair. They werenβt cowed into this, they did it gleefully.

Mind you, Sinclair has forced these news crews to deal with onslaught harassment due to their actions and are now forcing them to magically produce around 28 minutes of local programming. This means reporters magically have to come up with more stories in an already understaffed station.

Live Updates: Trump Lionizes Charlie Kirk and Vilifies the Left at Memorial
Ladies and gentlemen, MAGA Christianity.
-----------------
Striking a far different tone from that of Mr. Kirkβs widow, Mr. Trump said he disagreed with the view of wanting the best for oneβs opponent.
βI hate my opponent and I donβt want the best for them,β he said.
He added: βI am sorry, Erika.β

I would read an annotated version of today's proceedings with annotations done by all of the scholars of religion who couldn't get jobs in the past few decades because it wasn't relevant.

I've spent hours writing my PhD inquiries to the point of re-reading books to make sure I fully understand the professor's point. (AKA, so I don't embarrass myself). And people are out here doing this π, that's so shameful.

The local station for Lynchburg VA, WSET 13, is Sinclair.
The unfortunate irony is that most of what they've run about the situation wasn't a Sinclair must-run, they just have employees that staunchly share in their corporations beliefs.
(And yes, most employees are grads of LibertyU.)

Yeah, and it's important to discuss because it's clear it won't be going away, even if it gets heavily restricted due to copyright law.
I know the archive world has been a bit more perceptive to the conversation, though there's still vastly different opinions all around.

From what I've seen, it's a lack of understanding of assistive AI vs generative AI. Using AI to organize your notes, make documents readable, etc., is not what many people get concerned about. The issue is when people use AI to generate writings and artwork, which actively steal from creators.
