Boys, there is a new book out, Bad Company by Megan Greenwell. Let's all read it. (Assuming Hunter hasn't already.)

You don't have to imagine, Kalanick already proudly shared the same thing. He has used Chat-GPT to solve physics. Physics is solved now, thanks to them. That's why all physicists are out of jobs now.

Chatbots Can Go Into a Delusional Spiral. Here’s How It Happens.

NEW from @kashhill.bsky.social and me:

Over three weeks in May, a man became convinced by ChatGPT that the fate of the world rested on his shoulders.

Otherwise perfectly sane, Allan Brooks is part of a growing number of people getting into chatbot-induced delusional spirals. This is his story.

I was just informed that our Country’s β€œJobs Numbers” are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics, who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala’s chances of Victory. This is the same Bureau of Labor Statistics that overstated the Jobs Growth in March 2024 by approximately 818,000 and, then again, right before the 2024 Presidential Election, in August and September, by 112,000. These were Records β€” No one can be that wrong? We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can’t be manipulated for political purposes. McEntarfer said there were only 73,000 Jobs added (a shock!) but, more importantly, that a major mistake was made by them, 258,000 Jobs downward, in the prior two months. Similar things happened in the first part of the year, always to the negative. The Economy is BOOMING under β€œTRUMP” despite a Fed that also plays games, this time with Interest Rates, where they lowered them twice, and substantially, just before the Presidential Election, I assume in the hopes of getting β€œKamala” elected – How did that work out? Jerome β€œToo Late” Powell should also be put β€œout to pasture.” Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Unquestionably the most dangerous and corrupt attack on the independence of US economic data in American history. Trump is firing the head of the BLS, a longtime civil servant confirmed 86-8 by the Senate, simply because the job numbers came in below his expectations today

text from WSJ article:

Scandinavian countries have more generous child care and parental leave policies than the U.S.β€”and lower fertility. Canada has cheaper college tuition, and lower fertility. In India, religious observance and marriage rates are high, and fertility is below the replacement rate. South Korea has among the world’s most restrictive abortion laws, and lowest fertility rates.

Their somewhat unsatisfying explanation is what economists call opportunity cost: There are things parents (or would-be parents) would rather spend their resources on than children.

a pair of economists have concluded that the main reason people don't have more children is simply that we live in a world in which there are things many of us would rather do than have more children (aka "opportunity cost")

I once had a lovely conversation with my airport vanpool driver about how he visited his family in South Africa for a month or so every year or two.

SO MANY farm workers in CA fly to visit their families in Mexico every year.

What a fool this man is. Do not let him define anything.

You know how we have a dumb person's idea of a smart person? ("Smart people use big words!")

Here we have a wealthy person's idea of a non-wealthy person. (Working people can't take vacations!)

A total of 319 NCAA DI schools chose to opt into the House settlement for the 2025-26 academic year, sources tell
@YahooSports
. That's 82% of DI.

The deadline to opt in for this year was Monday. Going forward, schools must decide by March if they are opting in for the next year.

I was told that if schools could pay athletes only the couple dozen schools at the top could afford to do it.

Weird that over 300 schools actually **volunteered** do start doing it.

Maybe all those people were lying al this time?

If Foxx had won, NYT would have run an article saying that the candidate that AOC and Bernie had supported lost and that’s why it’s a loss for Mamdani’s politics. There’s no winning with NYT.

EXTREMELY more important. Substantially increasing thousands of graduates' lifetimes earnings every year. I think it might be the best poverty fighting tool in the country? Probably losing funding right now though.

Nearly 20 years ago, we argued in The Wages of Wins that baseball doesn't need salary controls because money can't buy happiness.

And here we are again!

In a 49ers playoff game in the 90s, they had called for a deep ball on the second or third play. But someone suggested in the huddle that they change it because no one could see through firework smoke. But Jerry Rice was like "I don't need to see it anyway." And then caught it for a TD.

EA Revives College Basketball Video Game Despite Prior Sales Struggles The March Madness series was always more niche than EA's NCAA Football game, but the publisher is nonetheless making another nostalgia play.

In the HOUSE case, the plaintiffs presented a damages for vidoe games royalties that did not get paid for football **and basketball**. The NCAA's expert's response: there's no way EA will ever make a college basketball videogame.
