Is it still a lot of hours?

When I need to achieve a lot of work in a very short period of time I usually set some ice cracking sounds or Cryo Chamber like sounds or Rap.

When I'm modeling / reading I usually stops the music. That's a weird thing for developers to need music to be efficient ๐Ÿ˜….

New website design in progress: CRT css effet, new logo, new navbar . The website is now in a dark theme.

Not sure we see much about it with image compression but I added a CRT effect on the website, designed a new navbar and a new logo. You can compare with the old version of indiedevcasts.com.

I even added a glassmorphism effect on the navbar (yes it's just opacity+blur). More to come!

Maybe I should do more gamejams as a solo dev. It's challenging but definitely you can learn and experiment a lot without much cost. The time contraint is a great tool. For each gamejam you can pick one area to improve. Last time was modeling and animating characters. Next time could be UI.

Ok let's give some news! 1 day and 22h left for the #piratejam. I didn't get a lot of time lately. Now back to juggling between day job, family time and gamedev.

So cool thing: I finally have a working see-through effect to improve the user experience on the top down-map. I also have the shield.

Now I have a macro to generate entity IDs (so you can wrap them for business domains) that are prefixed, time sortable, and have their conversion and validation methods for my protobuf implementation ๐Ÿ˜

Separate all of this in multiple pull requests to make it easy to review. You branch off, rebase, cherry pick and rewrite history. You make sure you have some doc, and tests.

And you know what? That's what I prefer. Being able to shape and stack all the steps in your head.

If you wonder what's dev in a pro ctxt: you want to add a protobuf conversion, now you need to validite the content, you have an internal ID impl, now you need to validate the id input, you need to refactor (DRY), add a validator, build a macro builder to gen IDs, you find bugs, fix them, improve DX

Some progress, I know have my level for the prototype and the basic cam/player movements. But meh, not even a game yet. No sound, no game loop, no enemy. If I can't finish for the gamejam maybe I'll continue it anyway ๐Ÿ›Ž๏ธ.

Level design for the gamejam, I did something simple. I'll also add an elevator, some machines in the left room, trees in front of the building, and then done.

I'll have to manage the mask for building elements in front of the player camera. Next big step will be to have the boss #gamedev #indiedev
