He was also a close personal friend of Jeffrey Epstein's so, make of that what you will.

I was reading about Lawrence Krauss's book 'The War on Science'. In his telling, the war on science is waged by, you guessed it, the woke left.

The book was published in 2025, presumably right around when DOGE gutted the administrative state and Trump neutered Columbia.

By 'woke wars' I mean the endless popular discourse around wokeness that preoccupied people across the political spectrum before Trump II.

The 'woke wars' almost feel quaint in light of current events.

Lawrence Krauss, I'm now learning, is one of the worst offenders in this regard. He just published "The War on Science" (feat. Dawkins and others) through some right wing Christian press at a time when the Trump admin is destroying higher education.

I think it's mainly our deference to the US, and our role in the US Empire, that is keeping the Canada-Israel alliance alive. And for the US Empire (incl. NATO+EU), Israel still serves as a useful enforcer in MENA. They do our "dirty work", per the German Chancellor.

I realize the alliance goes deep and can't be undone overnight. I also realize that our foreign policy in general is not very democratically accountable. And it's possible that Canada-Israel relations are quite strained behind the scenes.

At the very least it's an extreme act of disrespect that follows a series of similar incidents: demolishing the Canada Well, killing a Canadian aid worker, shooting at Canadian diplomats, refusing a Canadian parliamentary delegation and (allegedly) assaulting one or more of its members.

Like, it would be nice if the Carney admin said "Hey it's actually Really Bad that you gratuitously destroyed Canadian military graves and we are going to take serious action if you don't meaningfully apologize and fix this somehow". Am I wrong to think this should count as a Diplomatic Incident?

I'd feel a lot less angry if we had an arms embargo and treated Israel the way we do Iran, for example. Instead we're supposed to ignore pretty outrageous incidents like this one and accept that the Canada/Israel alliance is not subject to democratic input.

I've said it before, but my main reason for focusing on Israel so much is because I find it galling that a) not only is Canada an ally of Israel, but b) criticism of that alliance is still subject to very real censorship, although that is changing now after immense pressure.

They're dabbing on us.

The IDF seems to have contempt for anyone and anything that is not Israeli.

I was trying to think of other Epstein figures and a guy called 'Fat Leonard' came to mind, although he's not quite the same.

What was the name of that like, fat guy in Malaysia who owned a US naval base or something?

I wish I had a word for this tone or language. "Safetyism" was coined by two assholes trying to sell a book, but it kind of fits. "Weaponized fragility" is what came to my mind. The excessive focus on ensuring "safety" and avoiding "harm" is profoundly demobilizing. 3/3

We need to retire this academic "bodies and spaces" language, I'm sorry. It is not doing the left any favours. We need to speak plainly to get our point across and drop the moral posturing. We need to stop being such neurotic upper middle class white libs about everything. IT IS PARALYZING. 2/

The IDF rigged a water facility in Gaza with explosives and detonated it. They filmed themselves doing so and posted the video to social media with a "funny" caption. All during a ceasefire.

But if I, as a Canadian, criticize this, I risk having HonestReporting or Canary Mission come after my job.
