My Physics warm up slides today. The last one is for those students that wanna argue with me about who should or shouldn’t be in the street.

I think the chart is a reminder for drivers, not for parents of children. Basically telling drivers, Hey! There are lots of kids around today! Slow down so you don’t kill them!

And the solutions would make life objectively better for like 99.9% of people. Unfortunately the 0.1% of people that would take a hit have billions of dollars to spend on propaganda the contrary.

I’m sure all the “Don’t Tread on Me” dudes will be lining up to criticize the police here…

Very true. I was at the St Louis aquarium the other day checking out an exhibit on coral reefs. They expressed that the reefs were in danger from climate change but the suggestions for individual action were just… frustrating. Care about coral reefs? STOP voting republican. Period.

Yep. This past 9 months has shown that left-leaning people understand the power of consumer choice (Tesla boycott etc). If every left-leaning person that accepted the reality of climate change stopped eating beef the impact would be MASSIVE. It would drive systemic change.

Absolutely! All you really have to do is cut out the beef.

I left a job I loved for one close to home, I bike to work everyday, I turned my “lawn” into a native pollinator utopia, nearly everything I wear is thrifted, etc etc etc. the only thing that is actually hard and has a real cost was giving up meat. It’s been almost ten years and it’s still hard.

The environmental movement hasn’t embraced eating less meat because it’s an actual sacrifice. EVs, electrified homes, induction cooking, solar panels… none of these are a sacrifice if you have money. Cutting meat, however? That has an actual cost…

Another day, another closed sidewalk with zero detours or thought whatsoever to what anyone outside a car might do here. I was told we should jump the sidewalk, ride the wrong way in the vehicle lane, and jump back up the sidewalk once we passed the closure. What if I was in a wheel chair?

Riding your bike to the grocery store… For those times when you really should go to the gym, you definitely need therapy, but you don’t really have time for either because you have too many errands to run.

This is true. There are a handful of days I don’t ride. Most of these are days you shouldn’t be driving either.

Also, if sidewalks and paths were cleared with the same urgency as the roads it would be much easier for people to choose the bike.

I ride a bike to work 12 months a year in a Colorado. There is no bad weather, only bad clothing
