One of the greatest signs of true mentorship: "He believed in me more than I believed in myself." May his memory be a blessing.๐Ÿ™

John Gurdon, whom we lost today, was not only my mentor but a dear friend. We met 30 years ago in Cambridge. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. His generosity, boundless curiosity, and sense of adventure shaped my life as a scientist ๐Ÿ–ค He will be missed by many. Here us 10 years ago

Thank you @natcellbio.nature.com for publishing our human amnion atlas. We aimed for this data to provide insights into aminon formation in the real embryo but also accurate reference points to generate meaningful stem cell-derived human embryo models

Itโ€™s no secret that we do our best work when it's less like work and more like a joy. Thatโ€™s what we have in mind for the Woodstock Night Science conference. The idea is to have the most fun conference possible so that the good ideas flow and we all get inspired. Thatโ€™s needed now more than ever!

What I love most about science are unexpected discoveries-finding what was thought not to exist or imagined differently, even against our hypotheses. We uncover them by following curiosity & intuition. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re hosting WoodstockNightScience, to spark bold ideas. Join us! #Science #Innovation

Friends: Science is under threat! Worldwide, forces seek to make it corporate-like, focused on deliverables, or even the enemy of society. It's time to take a stand to celebrate the science we know and love.

American Heart Association - Teen of Impact Teen of impact nominees are changemakers using their voices to make a difference. Together they will raise much needed funds, take charge of their health, advocate for all women and change policy.

Please consider supporting my daughter Nika's quest to raise funds for the American Heart Association @americanheart.bsky.social as a 2025 Teen of Impact nominee. More than ever we need support for cardiovascular research, and this is a noble way to help. Thank you! www2.heart.org/site/TR?px=2...

Again, the World Health Organization is the single most important global entity in preventing, tracking and controlling outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics and is especially important as climate change and deforestation allow pathogens to mutate, become more infectious and spread to new regions

We are still not evacuated and have electricity, fortunately, though the Eaton Fire is close and frightening. The smoke in the air is overwhelmingโ€”we just bought 2 air purifiers and strongly recommend doing the same. Hoping it helps. Stay safe, everyone.

Thank you Stylianos for mentioning our paper at the end of the year! So kind of you! Our aim here was to find which pathways at the post-implantation human development are similarly important as we knew from working with the mouse embryos and which are unique for human embryos success.

Working on the 'rejection' talk - I'm reminded that so many papers in CSN were, at one point, rejected... (wouldn't it be nice to have that data?!).

When you open your first lab you build it in a certain way but then as the years go by and your science or style of work change you're stuck with that structure, unless you move to another institute or something. How do you deal with this?
