I found a place that’s only one bridge away from me that a review says has hand pulled “like biang biang noodles”, so that’s probably my first stop

Just finished @annaleen.bsky.social ‘s Automatic Noodle. It had me at robots making noodles. What’s not to like? But these bots have plausible and relatable inner lives, and are struggling to make a living like all of us, of course I love them. And would really like to try biang biang noodles!

The faculty have been waiting decades to get this quote into the Times.

Right. This is also going to be a big property grab. A lot of people made a lot of money taking property owned by the interned Japanese.

A Windf*cker perches atop a small branch at the top of a tree with a blue sky backdrop.

I was today-years-old when I learned that Kestrels were called Windf*ckers in Medieval times, and therefore that will be the name I whisper henceforth whenever I see one of these majestic, mini, murder birds.

SFF friends: this is a good 75% of my energy/climate work right now. Dealing with the power demands of incipient data centers on the electric grid, and how those demands are resulting in more expensive and dirtier electricity for everyone.

Hey folks,

Below is a place to submit your photos of Park signs.

Supposedly they’ll be whitewashed by September 17.

So now is a good time to start taking photos.

got off at the next station and raced to the airport and dealt with checking bags and stood in the long security line all that goes with that and eventually got packed into a very full plane (including cliche but real crying babies) and that was fast but unpleasant

Last time I took a long train trip we were stopped for over 24 hours because of wind storms. Which was not a terrible ordeal, you could get off the train and walk to town, they gave us free meals, not bad at all as getting stuck on transportation goes. I was under time pressure so

Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk say human population not nearly big enough: ‘If we had a trillion humans, we would have at any given time a thousand Mozarts’ “I think in a lot of these endeavors we're very like-minded,” Bezos said of himself and Musk regarding getting humans into space.

I don’t know why this incenses me as much as it does, but it does:

we very likely have a thousand plus Mozarts *right now*. But they make non-Western art in economically destitute conditions so they have to do other work to pay bills; if you cared, UBI’d be more important to you than going to space
