I really don't want to dunk on this, as I do think many men are struggling to find connection, and that the model of masculinity they've been sold is ill-suited for partnership in the current moment. But could we consider that the term "getting laid" is not exactly conducive to that conversation?

I'm learning that as a college educator, I need to understand what's happening in highschool, because I had no idea grading methods + standards were changing, but I've seen a HEAVY impact in my classroom the last 2 years. The blog post has some amazing suggestions for solutions, but describes three trends in HS grading:
--A 50% minimum grade instead of a zero
--No late work penalties
--Unlimited + guaranteed retakes/redos

I fear we are depriving our students of opportunities for struggle and transformative learning!

A legal permanent resident, no due process, no notice. Disappeared trying to engage in a simple administrative matter.

Talk about The Wire, Sopranos, Game of Thrones all you want, but the greatest US television program ever made is Sesame Street. It's not even close. 50+ years of treating kids across class, ethnicity, religion not as mini-consumers...but as citizens with a stake in this world.

Do not spend your old wild and precious life making things for your kids to find on the beach. (And don't feel guilty about that, either.)
