CrimeWriter. Anti-AI. Querying for THE NATURAL ORDER. Working on PAPER NAUTILUS and WALKING ON EGGSHELLS. Missing the days of having a computer room ✨

(That goes for images, too. We're all in this together--writers and artists)
Is it a bit on the nose to say "vulnerability"?
Neither of the boys are ready to name their emotion as fear. Maybe anger? They're deeply afraid to access their feelings in general, b/c they're not in a safe enough place to start healing.

I didn't realize my bio didn't reflect this, but this is a 100 percent GenAI free space. GenAI is not only environmentally disastrous, but intellectually and creatively dishonest, lazy, and devoid of value. I personally will never knowingly use it in any form.

We need the arts to survive as a society and culture.
"What if I wrote a cozy mystery?"
I've written everything but, including the not very cozy murder mystery/crime piece I'm querying on.
And the environmental mystery in progress...
And then the other murder mystery, and the story about all the stalking...
I'm still trying to get cozy over here!
The good doctor generally doesn't know what time it is, and the detective generally doesn't care.
But his alter ego? That guy definitely prefers the night. For reasons. Good reasons. Look, he'd really prefer we talk about something else, okay?

Vox has partnered with OpenAI, so this "article" is one giant ad.
I've never met a creative with enough time and funding to explore all their ideas.
We get stuck mid idea, but the funny part is we need fresh input/experiences to get unstuck, which is the exact opposite of GenAI.
We are parents of a trans kid and our family takes this very, very personally. If you intentionally make life harder for our beloved daughter, it’s EXTREMELY hard to think of you as an ally, to say the least. @amyklobuchar.com - you still send us requests for money, while hurting our kid. Disgusted.

Yes, the renowned colonial empire of... theater kids. You know, I was just thinking about how much undeserved social currency theater kids historically have.
(What a bizarre argument they were trying to have lol)
In light of this, I'll be pulling all of my ebooks from Amazon at the end of the month and Woman of Sorrow and Blood will NOT be published in ebook on Amazon
I will still be distributing print books through Amazon because it's much easier/more cost effective than the alternatives

I'm under no delusions about monetizing a following. But if there are writers in your orbit, try to drop a like every so often, comment on a post, share it. Pre-order their books.
Our time on this planet is precious and fleeting, so no pressure, but it is a free action that I feel helps <3
I know it's asking a lot, but a positive action readers can take is to interact with our stuff. Any of it. Right now (at this point in my career), it feels like single writers are called to be full media companies, and it's not our natural lane
I'm a one-on-one type. Daily life involves caretaking.
Collage of an alley and a cup of coffee. Text: 09 December 25. I somehow find my rhythms in the cold and chaos. I’m not sure what that says about me, but I have a feeling I’ll find out.
It's a weird time for the Midwest. It feels like a perpetual midnight, like you're in the world's dullest sleepover.
Things felt more concrete this month. And I'm looking forward to what the Jan new year brings.

Text over a plain background. Title: Untitled Sequel. Word of the day: "City". Body text: "Yeah, and I know how much you hate ambiguity, Doc, but this is the best we got right now." The road rose to a vista overlooking the coast, lined with craggy rocks beaten by the deep blue waves of a Great Lake, and a bit nearer, the arched bridge still murky with the morning fog that was rapidly disappearing in the hot summer sun. "You read that case file I sent you?"
The northeastern edge of the city features a terrifying suspension bridge that's always foggy in the mornings... especially in the summer.

I'm so easily influenced (and still waking up) that I initially thought this was one of those new writer focus tools (like the Freewrite) and was preparing to click through to see why they think this one needs to be $500 //facepalm.
(But seriously, why are all our focus gadgets so expensive ;_;)
Me, as a writer: I've used "actually" three times in this chapter! That's horrible. I'll need to fix that.
Me, as an actual person, speaking: "So, actually, that isn't an actual problem...actually." 🙄
