I think it was that you had to be on home Wi-Fi to stream through the Xfinity app, but you could stream through the fsn/Bally app by logging in through your provider (Xfinity). I remember it working for the fsn app, but the Bally one was pretty glitchy

Instacart is probably bad, but every time there's a minor issue I'm reminded that someone is doing my shopping for me and bringing it to my door for far less money than I'd be willing to pay. Walmart sounds like a good alternative, I'll have to check it out
